The military dictatorship that began in 1976 in Argentina was very violent and censored public expressions. Mass gatherings were prohibited and artistic production was viewed with suspicion.
However, in the beginning of the 1980s, and despite the restrictions, there was an important event that broke the silence: “El Siluetazo”.
As an initiative of the "Madres de Plaza de Mayo", 30,0000 life-size images of human figures were created in memory of those who "dissappeared" during the dictatorship.
These silhouettes became a symbol for the fight for human rights in Argentina.
