NORTH OF ARGENTINA
The first 10 photos of this album are the Northern provinces in Argentina with traces of pre-Columbian cultures, mingled with ruins of natives´villages, as well as forts and constructions dating back to the time of the Conquest and Colonization. Time seems to stand still in the high plateau of the Puna, a country full of mountains with steep paths and gorges. Villages have been built in the small valleys where multi-colored and mono-chromatic hills covered with huge cactuses surround them. This region offers landscapes full of contrast for tourist to enjoy, from the high peaks to the plains, the salt mines and the subtropical rain forests.
CUYO
After this ten photos there are 7 photos wich are from Cuyo (La Rioja, San Juan, Mendoza y San Luis). In native language Cuyo means "country of the deserts", and the region stretches over high summits, snow capped volcanoes and great extensions from the Andes and the pre-Andean mountains to the steppes. The Aconcagua peak- a goal for Climbers from all over the world-, paleontological and natural reserves, and the region´s valleys, having the ideal climate for wine production, make this territory unique. Skiing, horseback riding, rafting and adventure tourism are some of the recreational activities the region is mostly visited for.
PATAGONIA
The next ten photos after Cuyo, are from Patagonia. The Patagonia steppe is flanked to the west by the Andes and to the east by the Atlantic coast´s erratic geography. Peninsula Valdés is a special treat for lovers of wildlife, with the largest colony of elephant seals in the world and a large number of southern right whales coming close to the shore every year. The beauty of the Andean Patagonia forests, lakes and glaciars-notable the Perito Moreno glacier-will captivate each and every visitor. A wide variety of sports can be practiced in this region extending to the Beagle Channel, the departing point for cruises to the Antartica.
LITORAL
The next ten photos that come after patagonia are from the Litoral. Great rivers and virgin forests are the predominant features if this reddish soil region. The spectacular Iguazú falls, the Esteros del Iberá national parks are exuberant home to an amazing and varied wildlife. History comes back to life at the Jesuit Ruins, the Flag Monument or the San José Palace. Traditional customs are reflected both in the outfits of gauchos and in the region´s music and carnival festivities.
