The Buenos Aires Craft Beer Adventure

The Buenos Aires Craft Beer Adventure Craft Beer and neighborhood tour in Buenos Aires' Colegiales neighorhood

You would be in a group of up to 10 people, led by a trained and enthusiastic guide on a walking tour where you will get a little bit of neighborhood and Argentine beer history and try a variety of local craft brews. You will visit several locally owned craft beer bars, and even a microbrewery where they brew beer on the premises.

I’m currently on vacation in Tandil and I found a specialty coffee place that also has one of my favorite brewers in cans. This silky smooth oatmeal milk stout w/cacao nibs paired beautifully with their brownie. If you happen to go to Tandil, you need to visit this place.

Te de Mouse - Black Muffin IPA

The name is a mouthful, but this collaboration between Cerveza Mur and Juguetes Perdidos is also a mouthful but in a good way. There is so much happening ingredients-wise you would expect this to be difficult to pull off, but these two brewers did a great job of making a well-balanced, complex, black IPA that is close to a dessert beer, but manages to not overdo it on the sweet side.

During this pandemic with our strict lockdown I was lucky enough to count on some of my favorite local brewers coming up with new beers. In this case, it's Dos Dingos with their Cereal Milk IPA, Cereal Killer. It's part of a family of beers that are being brewed in collaboration with & .brewing

This is made with Galaxy and Mosaic hops that are double dry hopped. They also added lactose and has an ABV 6.5%.

I participated in a group virtual beer tasting and this beer was part of that tasting. We noticed marshmallow, peach, passion fruit, mango, and of course, corn flakes.

I was so impressed with this one that I included it in a subsequent order. If you are lucky to be in Argentina and this beer is around, you should try it.

This will be my first ever virtual tasting. I've been too busy cooking, cleaning, etc. but when I got word that Dos Dingos Cerveza Independiente was going to bring back their, "Gone Tropo -- Piña Colada Milkshake NEIPA 5.5% abv", I just had no choice. This beer is made with coconut, pineapple, and lactose and is one of my favorite beers in general. You never forget your first, and that was my first milkshake beer ever.

They also have a collaboration brew with Gorilla Cervecería Argentina, "Cereal Killer -- 6.5 abv Mosaic & Galaxy" which is also a milkshake, an IPA milkshake made with frosted flakes. Tony the Tiger, eat your heart out!

In any case, these are the beers we are going to be tasting tonight and I love that it includes a collaboration between two excellent local brewers.

One of my favorite local brewers, Gorilla Cervecería Argentina (I have several) came out with a Chocolate Stout and I had to order it for delivery and is now one of my . My daughters have been busy baking so I thought I would take advantage of the fact that we have home made brownies laying around and the pairing is fantastic.

The beer is made with Peruvian cacao and lactose. It clocks in at 6.4% ABV and at 30 IBU's. It goes down a little on the dry side with a medium to full body.

The brownie takes that dry edge off of it and I have to make sure to take small bites otherwise it tends to overpower the beer, but the combination is just lovely, chocolaty, boozy nirvana.

Latest announcement from the US Dept of State:

The Government of Argentina has implemented enhanced screening and quarantine measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Beginning on Monday, March 16, the Government of Argentina will restrict direct flights between Argentina and several destinations, including the United States. The last flights will operate on March 16. Travelers should be prepared for travel restrictions to be put into effect with little or no advance notice.

The U.S. Embassy advises U.S. citizens with plans to depart Argentina to depart as soon as they can do so while commercial flights remain available.

The government has enacted a 14-day quarantine period for all travelers arriving in Argentina who have visited a country with sustained transmission, including the United States, all countries in Europe, China, Japan, South Korea, and Iran. This applies to any person arriving in the last 14 days prior to the issuance of this requirement. Travelers must provide an itinerary and residence in Argentina and undergo a medical exam to determine their susceptibility to COVID-19. Visit the website of the Argentine Government (in Spanish) for additional information on these new measures.

Currently, the Embassy is not aware of any restrictions on travelers leaving Argentina. If U.S. citizens are not able to depart on a direct flight from Argentina, the U.S. Embassy advises U.S. citizens to explore options for departing via other air routes as well as land or maritime border through a neighboring country.
