On our Balkans Runcation, we kick off our first big day on the trails on this 11-mile route following an old mule track linking the tribal regions of Shala and Nikaj. This descent is just on the other side of the high point of the day: a mountain pass at almost 6,000 feet with views into multiple valleys and the most southern glacier in the northern hemisphere. We spend the evening in a colorful guesthouse with warm hospitality and mountain views.
