In 2014 I left a job I loved in the state of Vermont to pursue some solo traveling through the US and Argentina. Now I can't imagine going back to sitting at a desk or working a traditional 9-5. Here you'll find a documentation of my travels, demystification of solo travel, encouragement for slow and engaged traveling, budgeting and planning advice, and the odd jobs along the way I find to fund it

all. I'll regularly share articles and advice from other travelers forging the way ahead. I'd love this space to be shared-ask any questions you have about my travels specifically or general travel information, share your travel stories and pictures, or leave articles you've found interesting along your way!

Man oh man, there is a lot of work that goes into starting a business! Creating a brand, taking care of all the legal aspects, engaging in social media, creating content, the list goes on. Another day with the intention to write new content eaten away with learning so many other aspects of how to get up and off the ground. One might even guess that all that legwork should have been done before I reached out to all you lovelies to join this crazy ride. But where's the fun in that? I'm strictly following the Richard Branson "screw it let's do it" approach. My dearly wonderful roommates who saw me not just plan out my first solo adventure, but meticulously excel spreadsheet my adventure will damn near fall over to see me diving right in. But that's one of the perks of traveling, you start thinking things are possible that you never really gave much thought to. And you too could become this reckless! Screw it let's do it!

In the meantime, let me leave this post here about all the characters I met on my longest stretch of train travel in the US from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Whitefish, Montana. Happy reading and thanks a lot for being here.

My, my what a long train trip! It was just shy of 40 hours by three and a half- but hey who's counting. The train is surprisingly comfortable, but two overnights certainly make for less than restfu...

Today's post in the Long Distance Travel series is all about what makes travel like this so fun (or at least bearable depending on who you ask).

Tomorrow's post is all about what essentials to pack for enjoying the ride even more. And if you know anything about me, you know the list is going to include a little wine.

I love hunkering down on a long bus ride or train ride. When I chat with people and mention that I'm heading off on a 12, 15, 20, 40 hour ride they think I'm INSANE to be excited about it. But you'...
