This waterfall is so special, not only with its height of 45 metres, but its triasic surroundings, deep canyon and little swimming pools in the volcanic river Agrio… do you feel this incredible energy?

National Park Monte León

This is one of the most pristine and wild national coastal parks in Patagonia. Its location and distance to any interesting area makes it very poorly visited all year round - which actually helps the wildlife. There are pumas, guanacos, foxes, abundant sea life (penguins, whales, sea lions, sea birds...).

It lays in the south-eastern Patagonia along the national road RN3 leading to Rio Gallegos. The access is difficult during wet and muddy times so usually the rangers close the entrance to avoid further damages to landscape.

The rocks, cliffs, hidden beaches, caves and islands create incredible scenery along the coast - just walk and breathe this atmosphere!

Kdyby někoho zajímalo, tak do skupiny Nadšenci horské turistiky píšu několikadílný seriál o vybraných trecích v Argentinských Andách - dnes vyšel už pátý díl (zrovna o Cerro Torre, mé nejoblíběnější hoře...)! Lze zadat do lupy moje jméno a všechny vyběhnou... . Navíc je tam přidaných plno super fotek z těchto vycházek.

National Park Perito Moreno

This is my favourite national park in Argentina - the south-western Patagonia. Everyone is confused with its name and even Argentinians would speak about the different place - the glacier which I mentioned in the previous posts (Glacier Perito Moreno in the National Park 'Los Glaciares')... .

The advantage of this place is clear. No people. As it lays literally in the middle of nowhere and the weather conditions are very rough and tough, the national park welcomes its few hundred visitors only during 5 months per year. Just icy blue lakes, rivers and mountains, plus the pumas and the guanacos... .

There is no commercial set up, no shops and the only one private accomodation in the estancia (kind of a farm...), otherwise sometimes it is possible to stay overnight in the wooden cabins which are being made by the national park rangers.

Have a look at its natural beauty and wilderness... .

A famous glacier - Perito Moreno ❄️

This glacier is one of the most impressive natural monuments you could come across in the Argentinian Patagonia, if not worldwide... .

Its ice towers reaching up to 80 metres, then cracking and falling into the surrounding Lake Argentino with a stormy noise... .

Some interesting info about it:

- continuously growing glacier (not many in the world)
- the worlds third largest reserve of fresh water
- 5 kms wide, 30 kms long
- average height is 74 m above water level, 170 m deep
- it ruptures massively every few years

You can find it in the NP Los Glaciares in the south-western Patagonia, some 80 kms from El Calafate (also the closest airport)...

Today I am going to show you some bits of the Terra del Fuego (Ohňová Země)...

Terra del Fuego is the island which stands at the southermost tip of the South America. Away from the main continent it is separated by the Strait of Magellan - that connects both Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It belongs to Argentina and Chile.

If you drive to Ushuaia, expect to experience the 4 border crossings - pain in the ass 😉.

Otherwise this island is absolutely wild and stunning! A proper end of the world! Wilderness, glaciers, lakes, mountains, wild coast, animals ...

And why Terra del Fuego? Because of the little fires made by the local original indians called Yaghans (Yamans) who where heating themselves in the Patagonian rainforests...
