experience in Argentina visiting the last Jewish agriculture colony founded in 1936 by the Jewish colonization association ( baron de Hirsch). The colonies were mostly from Germany.
Super welcome by Carmen and aviche.
Ph 1 -2 wimpel. It's a piece of fabric sorrounded the Torah very typical of the german Jews.
Ph 3.4 cemetery. It's a tradition in the german Jews no pictures and not flowers at all.
Ph 5 I had the chance to talk with Manfre. He is the only one living there who was born in Germany and came with the first immigrants

As you know I love to share with you some stories linking Argentina with Judaism.
This year I chose to jewish Argentinian artists.

1 -Ceclia Marcovich . She was born in Harlau ( Rumania) in 1894 and died in Buenos Aires in 1976. In 1901 she emigrated with her family to Argentina helped by the Jewish Colonization Association (founded by Baron Hirch) and settled in the first jewish agricultural colony in Argentina called Moises Ville.

She was a painter, scupulter, and teacher. She was an activist and feminist.

2 -Kosice Gyula. He was born in 1924 in Kosice ( today Slovakia) and died in Buenos Aires in 2016. He settled in Argentina when he was only 4 years old.
He was a sculptor, plastic artist , theoretician and poet. He was a very important figure in the kinetic art movement.

As you know I always love to share with you some things about my country , Judaism and of course also stories linking both.

I found this Beer Bottle ( Bieckert) with a David Star in a boutique hotel located in the oldest part of the city of Buenos Aires. They made an archaeological excavation and found very interesting things and afterwards they opened a Museum.

I was surprised at first. Bieckert arrived in Argentina in the mid 1800s and opened the first large scale production brewery factory in this country. Seeing the David star in the beer bottle made me think he was jewish but as I found out later on, it seems he was a German protestant. So why the David Star ?!?

It seems in the Middle Ages all the artisans had a symbol which represented their guild. The symbol for the beer artisans (brewers) was a David Star. In each corner (6 in total), you can find all the elements you need for a real and perfect production of beer. Malt, Brew, Fermentation, Water, Fire, Air.

In the same place where I found this beer bottle , was the photography store where Max Glucksman started working. He was considered a pioneer in the photography and filming business . Thanks to him we have the first film in Argentina. Later on he was also involved in the record studio business and he discovered Carlos Gardel (He was the most famous Tango singer). Mr. Glucksman used to have 70 cinemas in Argentina and some bordering countries. One of the cinemas became today one of the nicest bookstores in the world. It's called Grand Splendid El Ateneo. Max Glucksman was one of our first jewish people we welcomed in Argentina (at the end of 1800). He was for several years the president of our first jewish institution in Argentina (Cira). Back then we built the synagogue we visited together in Buenos Aires ( or will visit the day I will welcome you).

An Homage for Lothar Hermann, the men who identified, and informed about Eichmann life in Argentina.
The last Friday this plaque was added in Coronel Suarez ( Buenos Aires Province) in the place where he was living and he wrote the letters thats help to discover and capture Eichmann.in Argentina.

Today I am celebrating the 2 years anniversary of Jewish Experience in Argentina's Zooms - Tours- Lecture.

Celebrando hoy los dos años del comienzo de los zooms en Jewish experience in Argentina. Experiencias Judías en Argentina.

Exactly 2 years ago I was just in front of my screen sharing Tango & Judaism with the world. Was the first of more than 25.

Now that the Covid situation is much better so I welcome tourists face to face but i still going on with my zooms.

Yom Ha Shoa. Holocaust Remembrance day.

This sculpture is an homage to the heroes of the uprising against the n**i in Warsaw´s Gueto. Its located in Parque Centenario, Buenos Aires ( my neighborhood) and its a replica of the one located in Warsaw, Poland.
