From the Archives — Jorge Trucco
This was the first McKenzie drift boat ever to navigate the rivers of Patagonia.
Greg Tatman sent it down in kit form back in 1990, and we assembled it here before it ever touched the water.
At the time, drift boats were virtually unknown in Argentine fly fishing, and most anglers in Patagonia had never even seen one before.
I originally resisted naming the boats, but eventually gave in. This one became “Sandra,” after one of our secretaries at the time. Its sister boat was named “Cecilia.”
More than three decades later, this old boat still brings back memories of those pioneering years, when much of Patagonia fly fishing was still being discovered one river at a time.
