We headed out to the Caleufu River this week for scouting, with and .guide (who will both be part of our team this season), unsure of what we’d find. The river greeted us with seriously low water—skins of glass, long exposed banks, and miles of structure we don’t usually get to see. But the surprise came when the trout started looking up as the day warmed up.
Even in technical, skinny flows, the dry-fly action was steady and honest. We could enjoy those magical moments when a brown rises in impossibly shallow water...
Patagonia always has a way of reminding us that conditions may change… but the experience stays remarkable.

2025-26 fly fishing season kick off report

As the new fly fishing season begins here in Patagonia Argentina, we are pleased to share some early impressions from our first scoutings around our operational area.

Up to now, we floated the Caleufu, the Chimehuín and the Collón cura river, expecting to fish the Aluminé soon.

This year we found that water levels are notably lower than average, largely due to a mild winter with limited snowfall along and across the Andes. This reduced snowpack has led into a lack of snowmelt and consequently leaner flows, compared with what we are used to by this time of the season, throughout mainly all the river systems in the area.

However, despite of this low water condition, the fishing has been remarkably encouraging with many trout holding in their usual and well-defined structures for this time of the season, responding consistently to our streamers on the Chimehuín and Caleufu, while we enjoyed great surface action on the Collón Cura.

The quality of the fishing has really proven to be strong and full of promise!
