❌ This photo shows a rock creation, not a petroglyph in British Columbia

Social media posts have falsely claimed that an aerial photo depicts ancient petroglyphs in Vancouver, British Columbia. However, the image, taken near Nelson, BC, by drone operator Rob Antill, is located hundreds of kilometers away from Vancouver and does not show petroglyphs. Local experts and academics confirmed that the formation in the photo is a modern stone artwork, not an ancient carving. These stone labyrinths, created during low water periods around Nelson, are distinct from traditional First Nations petroglyphs, which are carved directly into rock surfaces and found at various archaeological sites across British Columbia. The image first gained attention in 2015 and has been widely shared online, but experts emphasize that it represents contemporary rock alignment rather than an ancient artifact.
