📍📆 September, you’ve got us dreaming about where to go next! As summer winds down in the North and spring begins to bloom in the South, September is one of those sweet-spots for travel - think milder temperatures, fewer crowds, and plenty of places at their seasonal best. ✨ Here’s where we’d go this month: 👇

🇲🇪 Kotor, Montenegro
The Adriatic is still warm, the summer crowds thin and the temperatures are much more pleasant for exploring the medieval Old Town. Climb to the fortress, take a boat ride to Perast and admire the spectacular mountain views over a long lunch.

🇨🇴 Bogotá, Colombia
Wander La Candelaria, browse the incredible stalls at Paloquemao Market, and visit Monserrate for epic views. September can bring daily showers, but they’re usually short-lived!

🇺🇸 Buffalo & Niagara Falls, New York, USA
Pair game-day buzz (go Bills! 🏈) with architecture, art, waterfront walks and legendary Buffalo wings, before heading to Niagara Falls. Get up close from the US side, then cross the border to Canada for an entirely different perspective.

🇦🇺 Perth, Australia
Spring is beginning to show across Western Australia’s capital, with longer, sunnier days and wildflowers starting to bloom. Explore iconic beaches, beautiful Kings Park and the discover hidden lanes and arcades throughout the city centre.

🇧🇦 Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina
We fell in love with Mostar! Watch divers leap from Stari Most (Old Bridge), wander the atmospheric Old Town, explore the street art scene, and learn about the city’s fascinating history. September is an especially lovely time to explore.

🇺🇸 Joseph, Oregon, USA
Nestled at the foot of the awe-inspiring Wallowa Mountains, Joseph deserves a spot on your road trip list. Browse its galleries and independent shops, ride the Wallowa Lake Tramway to 8,150-feet, explore Wallowa Lake and soak up the spectacular scenery!

🇮🇹 Lake Garda, Italy
Lingering summer energy and fewer crowds make this an ideal window to enjoy the turquoise waters and charming villages of Italy’s largest lake. Don’t miss the fortress in Sirmione or the olive oil presses in Bardolino.

📍🇺🇸 Happy 110th birthday to the National Park Service 🎉 This year it falls right in the middle of National Park Week, a celebration of one of America’s greatest treasures (there’s a reason they’re called ‘America’s best idea’ 🫶).

With 400+ National Park Service sites across the country, there’s a pretty good chance one is within reach wherever your travels take you. From iconic national parks to historic sites, monuments and spectacular landscapes, NPS sites make a wonderful addition to any US itinerary. And sometimes they are the whole trip!

Having visited more than half of the 63 designated National Parks so far (plus a bunch of other NPS sites), we’re sharing just some of our favourites. Swipe ➡️

✨ Top Tips ✨
🎟️ If you’re planning to visit several fee-charging national parks in a year, an America the Beautiful Annual Pass is a fantastic investment. It helps you save on entrance fees while also supporting the places you’re there to enjoy.

💸 The NPS offers a number of fee-free days throughout the year (including today in celebration of its birthday), which makes it even easier to get out and explore an NPS site.

🌿 Follow the seven ‘Leave No Trace’ principles when visiting - stay on designated trails, respect wildlife, pack out what you pack in, and leave these special places as you found them.

It’s so important that these public lands remain protected so everyone can access and enjoy them responsibly. 💚

Which National Parks are at the top of your wish list? 💫
Great Smoky Mountains is high on ours, although we’re on a quest to experience them all! 🏔️🍂🥾🤞

📍 Sol Duc Falls in Olympic National Park, Washington

📍 Skyline Trail, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington

📍 Myrtle Falls, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington

📍 Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

📍 White Sands National Park, New Mexico

📍 Yosemite National Park, California

📍Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado

📍 Bighorn sheep, Glacier National Park, Montana. This was filmed on extreme zoom - remember to give wildlife plenty of space! 🐏🥰

📍 Blue Lake, North Cascades National Park, Washington

📍🇲🇽 If there’s one way to make a visit to Teotihuacan even more memorable, it’s seeing the ancient city from above. Especially when the sky is filled with dozens of hot air balloons drifting over the pyramids! 🎈

Located about an hour northeast of Mexico City, Teotihuacan was one of the largest and most influential cities in the ancient Americas, with a history spanning more than 2,000 years. Its name, given centuries later by the Aztecs, means ‘place where the gods were created’.

Today, you can walk among its monumental pyramids and the Avenue of the Dead, as well as watch the sun rise over them from a hot air balloon.

✨ Know before you go ✨

🌅 Most flights depart around sunrise, when the light is at its most magical and conditions are typically best for flying.

⏰ Flights typically last around 45-60 minutes, but plan for a half-day experience when factoring in check-in, transfers and the flight.

🗺️ If you’re coming from Mexico City, Teotihuacan is roughly an hour outside the city, making it a very doable addition to a CDMX itinerary.

🏛️ It’s worthwhile exploring the archeological site and, ideally, joining a guided tour to learn more about the history, culture and people who built this extraordinary city. The archeological site visit is separate from the balloon flight.

🔖 Save this for your Mexico City itinerary.

💌 Send it to the friend you’d want with you in the balloon basket!

📍📆 If we were packing our bags this August, these are the six destinations we’d be venturing to! Whether you’re planning a last-minute getaway or dreaming about future travels, each offers something special this time of year.

👇 Here’s why we’d visit each one this month:

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Edinburgh, Scotland
Every August, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - the world’s largest celebration of arts and culture - takes over Scotland’s capital. Snap up last minute deals for this year, or plan ahead for next year. Long daylight hours and mild weather also make it ideal for castle hopping and picnics in the park.

🇸🇮 Piran, Slovenia
With its sparkling harbour, 7th-16th century city walls, the charming Tartini Square, iconic St George Church and bell tower, olive groves and local farmers markets, Piran is the epitome of historic coastal charm. Ideal for a seaside escape that’s more lowkey than Italy and Croatia.

🇵🇱 Tatra National Park, Poland
One of Europe’s most underrated hiking destinations! Think charming mountain huts, shimmering alpine lakes, and wild trails to explore.

🇨🇴 Guatapé, Colombia
Often dubbed one of the most colourful towns in the world, this vibrant and welcoming destination is just a two-hour drive from Medellin. Climb the 700+ steps to the top of Guatape Rock for sweeping vistas, a small cafe, food stalls and souvenir shops.

🇦🇺 Central Australia, Northern Territory, Australia
Comfortable daytime temps make exploring Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and the surrounding desert landscapes all the more enjoyable (don’t forget warm layers for those chilly nights, though!).

🇺🇸 Portland, Maine, USA
Lighthouses, lobster and long daylight hours - yes, please! Explore Portland on foot to experience the city’s rich culture, historical sites, nature and quaint neighbourhoods.

💌 Save this list for later and send it to someone who’s always planning their next adventure.
