We look forward to connecting with you over a selection of beautiful music during weekly live opera talks. In the course of three cycles, from September to December, we will discuss European opera history by means of practical opera examples. During the first cycle we will discuss Italian opera, followed by German and French opera.

Alexander Medem, a young opera director from Vienna has agreed to be again the host of our weekly live opera talks. Following the expert discussions of selected operas, each of us will then be able to watch the opera within the luxuries of our own homes.
How does it work? 1) The expert will introduce the opera to our intimate group during a live conversation 2) We will send you the link to watch the opera when convenient 3) We will meet again the following week to debrief and present the next opera.

Our hope is that these weekly sessions will provide the opportunity for you to connect with each other and one of our cultural experts in an intimate setting.

Practical Information:

Every Thursday our opera expert will meet us on Zoom
From 5pm to 6pm (Hong Kong Time)
11am to 12pm (CET)
The fee is 1,200 HKD per person per cycle and HKD 2,000 if you sign up with 2 persons

This time last year: Salzburg!!! So Me Travel founder Sophie’s hometown and the birth place of the grand Salzburg Festival which persevered in this most difficult time. Although we cannot come from Hong Kong to experience operas and a concert with Riccardo Muti as planned this year, we are glad the city can be host to a European audience and offer a scaled down program. We look on from afar, like the “Man on the Golden Sphere” on Kapitelplatz square. And we’ll be back soon!

This time last year: during our Music Festival Tour to Austria, operas at the Bregenz and Salzburg Festivals were our cultural highlights. But not to forget all the details that made this trip such a joy for all our guests and hosts: Meetings with interesting personalities, opera talks and behind the scenes tours, as well as tastings of exquisite Austrian specialities. Sadly this year’s festival tour had to be canceled but we have the memories of last year and once we can have experiences like these again, we will appreciate them even more.

We recently visited a beautiful sleepy private castle in the “Weinviertel”, Austria’s wine growing region and sat down with our hosts and a glass of GV. Long summmer evenings are the best. 😍

Last week So Me Travel hosted a fascinating online talk about "Viennese Modernism" with our art expert Dr. Stefan Kutzenberger from Vienna.
Dr. Kutzenberger works as curator and art mediator at the Leopold Museum Vienna which hosts an extensive collection on Viennese Modernsim. It is home to an extensive Klimt collection and the biggest Schiele collection in the world.

Last week we delivered our first Live Opera Talk. 12 participants from Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong were joined by the So Me Travel team in Vienna and Hong Kong. Our opera specialist Alexander Medem captivated the audience with wit and passion during his presentation on Beethoven’s only opera Fidelio. After the talk, participants were given a link to stream the opera online.
