Sailing with Galin

On 2nd and 3rd March me and my new friends from Vidin did a great short trip from Vidin to Ruse.
Initially we planned a stop in Nikopol but the Danube current was slower than expected and we managed to reached Baikal village.
The weather first day was rainy and windy but with good company the day passed like an eye blink. Baikal has a nice Ponton with a family hotel and a restaurant with fresh river fish dishes.
Second day was with nice weather and a good hangover. We had some electrical power issues but quickly solved and 5pm we reached Ruse after a nice sunny afternoon talking and enjoying the beautiful bulgarian nature.
We were welcomed by Yacht Club Ruse and they were even so kind to drive me to the bus station so I can catch the last bus to get home to my family.
Yachtsman are really nice and multilayered special people.

It is a huge privilege my journey to be nominated and to be listed next to some of the best bulgarian sailors for captain Georgi Georgiev Golden Globe yearly award

На 20ти декември ще се проведе церемонията по връчването на наградата "Златен Глобус" 2023 на фондация "Кор Кароли" за най-добро българско морско ветроходно постижение за годината, в памет на кап.Георги Георгиев.
Внесените кандидатури за приза са пет и по реда на получаването им те са, както следва:

1. Яхта “Мариша” с шкипер Евгени Манахов за неговото плаване в Тихия океан, с изминати 2800 мили.

2. Яхта “Quantum” с шкипер Милен Петков за неговото плаване от Порто Лагос (Гърция) до Чагуарамас (Тринидад и Тобаго), с изминати 6595 мили.

3. Яхта “Chocolate 3” с шкипер Франсоа Бопп и неговото участие в Rolex Middle Race с постигнатите първо и второ място в IRC2, и ORC2.

4. Яхта “Finen” с шкипер Галин Желязков за неговото плаване от Вондирборг, Дания до Видин, България, с изминати 1900 мили.

5. Яхта “Sea Magic” с шкипер Никола Попов за неговото плаване от Лисабон, Португалия до Балчик, България, с изминати 2700 мили.

Детайли за всяко едно плаване ще бъдат публикувани тук през следващите дни.
Награждаването ще се проведе на 20 декември от 18:00 часа в „Юнашки салон” град Варна.

27th November was a crazy day but it provided a sunny weather and I’ve finally reached Bulgaria 🇧🇬 at Novo Selo. Waiting for border police to valise entering the country was a bit long and kind of back and forward, but the night ended well with a good conversation with a same minded person that clear all the stress from the day. Soon to be back home 🏡

26th November started with a beautiful caste on the way and surprisingly good weather. After the shaky night it was a good beginning of the day. I’ve passed trough some picturesque places and voila when I’ve decided I will have an yach I didn’t expect I will see snow ❄️ falling on it while sailing it.
At the Iron gate lock (Romania-Serbia) I’ve asked for help from a bulgarian captain and he agreed to pull me till Ruse. The staff invited me on their ship, made me a hot tea and a big glass of 🍹 rum.

25th November was a mild weather day till noon and then some unexpected wind started. I’ve managed to reach Romanian border but all marinas were very shallow and I’ve spend 2 hours morning around to find a moorings. I found one private one but while I was putting fuel for the heater the owner came screaming in Romanian and uptight the boat leaving me flooting in the river. Finally I’ve reached the ferry mooring and Romanian border police direct me to a place where their colleague was awaiting for me. It is going to be a shaky night as river current and wind are strong tonight

24th November started with a fog but it turn sunny after and I’ve arrived at Belgrade, Serbia after 7h of motoring. I didn’t sleep well the previous night so I’ve decided to call it a day at 2pm and to take some afternoon nap to recharge. Can’t stop countithe hours until I arrive in Bulgaria 🇧🇬

23rd November was an early morning day 🙂 I departed around 6:00 so I can reach Novi Sad. the weather was cold but sunny and very pleasant to sail. Let’s hope tomorrow I have good weather.
In the evening I had the challenging task to report to police I’ve entered Serbia , OMG it took me 3h and walking to 4 different police stations until I found the right one and they just put the stamp for a second. Anyhow the walk around the city was beautiful and enjoyable.

22nd November was a day without rain and afternoon sunshine. I’ve passed 130km and reached Apatin, Serbia where the marina is very nice and has Petrol station and restaurant.

21/11/2023

21st November was a moderate weather day. I’ve started the sailing around 9am and managed to do 110km till 4pm. I’ve used the autopilot and this helped me a lot to sail whole day alone.
The harbour master at Paks, Hungary was an old man who is very friendly and even if he spoke only Hungarian we managed to understand each other (Google translate) and he drove me to lidl and Aldi to buy some stuff.

20th November we pass from Slovakia to beautiful Budapest, Hungary. We were super lucky to arrive just after sunset and we saw the city in its full glory of lights.
We right the boat to a mooring at the new stadium and went out for food and fuel. Also today my friend and co-traveller Kris is leaving for Bulgaria, so I’ve went with him to the bus station.

19th November we depart from Vienna, pass by Bratislava and reached Sap, Slovakia.
Most of the day we had 20km/h speed, but the last lock slow us down and we couldn’t reach our goal Hungary.

18th November we did a short sailing to Vienna and went to see the Christmas markets
With the 2 degrees outside the glugvine is very appreciated
Still can’t wait to be home 🏡
