LIFE DRAWING STUDIO
Monthly life drawing sessions on a Thursday from 6:30 - 7:45 pm

15.10.2026: Gesture & Posture

In the first session you will learn to perceive the essential elements of a pose – its gestural information. We will explore clear, accessible methods for drawing the major masses of the human body: the head and torso. Through a layering process you will learn to use anatomical landmarks to successfully bring more detail to the paper while ensuring correct proportions. 

Suitable for beginners and advanced.

Last weekend, Commonroom had the honour to host a unique hands-on workshop for all those who not only wear fashion, but want to understand it. The workshop focused on fashion as a cultural practice and political medium.

Organized jointly by , Volkskundemuseum Wien and the Textilmuseum St.Gallen , the event celebrated the beauty of upcycling and the rich history behind blaudruck (Indigo dyeing), now declared as an intangible UNESCO cultural heritage exclusively in European countries.

In the first part of the workshop, Clôd Priscilla Baumgartner gave wings to participants’ imagination by demonstrating how men’s discarded shirts could be re-used. Participants detached the shirts from its attributions and transformed them into individual, fashionable and political statements.

Part two of the workshop saw Dakshayini Gowda (sanchaliatelier ) steering people’s attention to the origins and flourishing technique of dyeing textiles in Indigo and the intertwining history of blue print between India and European nations. Participants dyed tote bags or clothing in Indigo using various print techniques including Shibori, Baatik, block printing and more.

Commonroom’s catering throughout the event, along with delectable servings of w**e and cheese towards the end by the Swiss embassy, made up for the unrelenting heat outside.

Choose your rhythm:
– Basic: 20 hours/month
– Plus M: Unlimited mornings (10:00–15:00 / Mondays and Wednesdays)
– Plus E: Unlimited evenings (15:00–20:00 / Mondays and Wednesdays)

Memberships start from 3 months, with lower monthly rates for longer commitments.

Materials and firing are charged separately based on usage.

Your children will love the energy of this collection! Songs include the American children’s song, “Ha Ha This a-Way” made famous by legendary blues guitarist Huddle Ledbetter (aka “Lead Belly”), the enchantingly rhythmic “Al citrón,” based on a traditional Latin American children’s game, and “’Bout My Friends,” sure to have everyone dancing to its funky blues. In addition to your weekly classes, your tuition includes recordings and materials for you to use at home, including an illustrated songbook and access to the songs through the Music Together app.
