GBS Green Building Solutions Summer University Green Building Solutions (GBS) Summer University 2022 will take place from July 16 to August 07 in Vienna ! We are looking forward to receive your application!

Green Building Solutions (GBS) is a unique & international summer university in Vienna from July 14-August 2, 2025 - Save your spot now, connect with like-minded people and experts, and leverage your career! The GBS is a 3-week academic training that specializes on first-hand ecological knowledge and engineering expertise. Lectures, workshops and excursions deal with the ecological, economic, tech

nical and social aspects of green building and construction. Participants deepen their knowledge in passive house planning, sustainable urban development, new energy technologies, innovative architecture and ecological design together with local experts. A group design project aims to incorporate the gained knowledge. The GBS aims at international students and professionals in the field of architecture, building design, urban planning, engineering sciences, construction, property development, facility and energy management as well as all related topics dealing with the built environment. We also invite people with study backgrounds such as resource planning, ecology, landscape planning to apply. Students with respective backgrounds can apply for a scholarship. Today we visited this year’s project site in Vienna’s 15th district – the 1.2 km-long Westbahnhof area.
This ÖBB-owned site stretches along Felberstraße, just behind Vienna’s Westbahnhof, and is currently the focus of public debate around its future use.
Over the next three weeks, our students will work in teams of 7–8 to develop new ideas and bold strategies for this unique urban space.

The GBS 2025 programme has officially started in Vienna!

This year, 60 students from 27 countries are taking part in the three-week summer university, exploring sustainable architecture and urban planning through a series of expert lectures, practical workshops and collaboration.

Senior Programme Manager Barbara Mayr and Programme Coordinator Lara Marchhart shared their reflections as the course begins.
