GBS Green Building Solutions Summer University Green Building Solutions (GBS) Summer University 2022 will take place from July 16 to August 07 in Vienna ! We are looking forward to receive your application!

Green Building Solutions (GBS) is a unique & international summer university in Vienna from July 14-August 2, 2025 - Save your spot now, connect with like-minded people and experts, and leverage your career! The GBS is a 3-week academic training that specializes on first-hand ecological knowledge and engineering expertise. Lectures, workshops and excursions deal with the ecological, economic, tech

nical and social aspects of green building and construction. Participants deepen their knowledge in passive house planning, sustainable urban development, new energy technologies, innovative architecture and ecological design together with local experts. A group design project aims to incorporate the gained knowledge. The GBS aims at international students and professionals in the field of architecture, building design, urban planning, engineering sciences, construction, property development, facility and energy management as well as all related topics dealing with the built environment. We also invite people with study backgrounds such as resource planning, ecology, landscape planning to apply. Students with respective backgrounds can apply for a scholarship. Conor Cassidy, a student from the South East Technological University in Ireland, joined the Green.Building.Solutions. summer university in 2024 to deepen his understanding of sustainability in the built environment.

Through panel talks, collaborative projects and real-world examples in Vienna, Conor gained new insights into climate change, inclusive design and how to apply these lessons in practice.

Earth is reaching its limits. 🌍💔 Every year, we consume more resources than our planet can regenerate.

This is what Earth Overshoot Day represents—the date when humanity's demand for ecological resources exceeds what the Earth can renew in a year.

This date is different for every country - for Austria it is sadly tomorrow already - the 29th of March.

Last night, Advantage Austria held a reception to celebrate sustainability and circularity in construction.

Delegates included innovators participating on the Austrian Pavilion at Futurebuild, as well as Austrian winners of funding for new disruptive circular solutions.

Also present at the event were representatives from DEFRA’s Circular Economy Taskforce.

The Circular Economy Taskforce is an independent expert advisory group established in November 2024 to support the UK government in creating a circular economy strategy for England.

This Taskforce’s expertise will enable co-design of the first strategy to begin the transition to a circular economy in England, to support economic growth, create green jobs, promote efficient and productive use of resources and accelerate the transition to net zero emissions.

Pictured at the reception are Michael Mueller, the Advantage Austria Trade Commissioner to the UK, Günther Jedliczka, CEO of OeAD student housing, which organises GBS and AEMS and Dr David Springfield, a member of the DEFRA Circular Economy Taskforce.
