Vienna - Schindl Local Services

Vienna - Schindl Local Services Want to come to Vienna and want a local to take you around? That’s us, a handful of licensed and well experienced Austria Guides that make a difference.

Due to the Covid-Recovery-Rules we guide Private Tours for up to nine guests. We arrange and accompany Walking Tours for individuals and groups, using public transportation or private sedans/vans in and around Vienna. Our Theme Walks tend to be a bit longer and more comprehensive than others and we not only help to discover Inner City’s Hidden Treasures but also have fun strolling the Baroque Pala

ce Gardens or follow Beethoven’s Footsteps in the vineyards of Nussdorf and Heiligenstadt. To discover the “Modern Vienna” with Graffiti Strand and modern architecture we take you on a Bike Tour. We don’t do hotel- and long distance travel arrangements. What we do best are custom tailored visits for individuals, families or groups which can take an evening, half a day, a full day or even two. Just feel free to reveal your Vienna travel plans to us and we come up with suggestions.

Bowl night in Vienna with the EFL-National Champions
With the Vienna Vikings patronizing two events, Vienna is shaping up to be far more Bowl‑Night‑ready than you’d ever expect in February.
The Super Bowl Party at the Vienna Marriott remains the most exclusive and prominent Super Bowl event in Europe.
For one night, the entire hotel transforms into a full‑scale American‑football zone:
• Original NFL merchandise on site
• The legendary All You Can Eat & Drink offering included in the ticket
• Three staggered buffets, each with its own twist
• And the choice between original US commentary or a pure Austrian broadcast with Walter Reiterer & Michael Eschlböck
It’s a full‑hotel takeover — and a certified Green Event, too.
And if you’re wondering why Vienna goes all‑in on a February night:
American football in Europe isn’t new at all — it’s been quietly thriving for decades.
Austria, Germany, and the Nordics built strong club cultures back in the 1980s, and Vienna has been one of the sport’s most passionate hubs ever since.
Austria’s national team is a quiet European powerhouse, reaching multiple finals and winning the 2025 European Championship.
So yes — Vienna may be in its off‑season, but when it comes to football, the city wakes up fast.

Vienna is strengthening its position as a gateway for Danube cruise travelers.
With starting and end‑points in Bavaria and Budapest becoming increasingly crowded, Vienna offers a calmer, more guest‑friendly alternative - ideal for travelers who value smooth arrivals and unhurried departures.
More itineraries now begin or end in Vienna, giving guests the chance to arrive rested, adjust to the time zone, and enjoy the city at a comfortable pace. Those buffer or transit days can be used meaningfully, adding value to the overall journey.
With the Viking fleet wintering in Vienna just now and preparing for the 2026 season, this is an excellent moment to plan ahead. Cruise lines provide strong introductory excursions, and we complement them with programs designed for repeat visitors and travelers who prefer a slower rhythm.
Morning and full‑day tours depart directly from the pier; afternoon programs may begin in the city.

⚠️ Taxi Scam Alert – Vienna Hauptbahnhof
We regret having to issue this WARNING again, but arrivals at Vienna Hauptbahnhof continue to report problems.
Most recent case: 21 JAN 26.
A guest was approached with an inflated “flat rate” offer. They refused — and immediately received perfectly normal, metered service from the next driver in line.
What you MUST know
Offering flat rates for inner‑city rides at curbside or taxi stands is UNLAWFUL in Vienna.
Always insist on the taximeter. If the driver refuses, simply step away and take the next taxi.
Uber/Bolt: Get your quote beforehand or upon arrival.
Only transfers that cross city limits (including airport rides) or pre‑booked services may legally use pre‑arranged rates.
Vienna is safe and well‑regulated — but this specific scam persists. A firm “No; meter only” protects you every time.
A warning from Vienna - Schindl Local Services and our Austria Guide Team.

🌿 Spring in Vienna: Insight for the Perfect Match
Vienna’s spring doesn’t arrive all at once—it unfolds in distinct chapters. As a boutique, on‑the‑ground supplier, we follow these rhythms closely so you can match your clients travel plans with the moment that truly fits their expectations.
Late Spring Break & Easter (28 March – 6 April)
A gentle, early‑spring window ideal for East Coast families visiting students abroad. Mild weather, manageable crowds, and a natural fit for multi‑generational travel.
Eurovision Week (10 – 17 May)
A vibrant, high‑energy period when Vienna fills quickly. Wonderful for guests who enjoy a festive atmosphere, but less suited for quiet family visits or student‑hosting.
Semester-End (mid–late June)
The emotional highlight of the academic year. Students are relaxed, families arrive to celebrate, and Vienna shines in early summer.
Our role is simple: up‑to‑date local information and prime service—when it matches your clients’ expectations.
No more, no less.

What to see in Vienna 2026?
We call it a “Perfect Day” in Vienna – “The Vienna Safari”
You want to see the “Big 5”
• St. Stephen's Cathedral
• Monumental part of the Ring boulevard & Hofburg
• Upper Belvedere Vienna View
• Schoenbrunn Palace gardens and fountains
• Ferris Wheel in Prater
Plus, a fun place for lunch and/or dinner!
To squeeze it all into one day, concentrate on outside impressions only.
Those that stay longer can build rewarding half day neighborhood walks around each of those five areas avoiding rushed crowds.

“EASTER IN VIENNA 2026”
Spring Break in the Heart of Europe
Vienna’s spring arrives quietly — blossoms opening in hidden courtyards, cafés placing their first outdoor tables, and three intimate Easter markets filling the city with color and craft.
In 2026, Easter (29 March–6 April) and Pessach (1–9 April) align beautifully with late Spring Break windows for many families on the U.S. East Coast. And the good news for early planners: Vienna’s Easter markets and spring atmosphere begin 20 March, offering excellent hotel and flight rates before the holiday peak.
For two weeks, our Hidden Gems Inner City Walk transforms into an Easter Edition, weaving Vienna’s seasonal traditions into our favorite corners of the old town.
If you dream of Europe in spring, this is the moment to mark the dates.

Martinigansl (late Oct. to Chrismas)
Goose is a classic early winter dish in Europe—especially in Germany, Austria, and the UK—because its natural lifecycle, rich flavor, and cultural symbolism align perfectly with seasonal feasts like Martinmas and Christmas.
🦢 Goose Suits the Season
Natural timing: Geese are traditionally harvested in late autumn. After the grain harvest, they were fattened on leftover stubble in fields, making them ideal for early winter feasts.
Fat-rich meat: Goose has a thick layer of fat under its skin, evolved for migratory endurance. This makes it perfect for roasting in cold months, yielding crispy skin and flavorful drippings.
Culinary versatility: Goose fat is prized for roasting vegetables and making pastries. The meat itself is darker and more robust than turkey, lending itself to hearty preparations like braises, roasts, and confits.
Historical & Cultural Significance
St. Martin’s Day (Martinigansl): In Austria and southern Germany, roast goose marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. It’s tied to the legend of St. Martin hiding among geese, who betrayed him with their honking.
Christmas tradition: Before turkey became dominant, goose was the centerpiece of Christmas meals across Europe. Its association with celebration and abundance made it a symbol of winter feasting.
