Our Year 8 students ventured down the rabbit hole into a whimsical Mad Hatter Tea Party to celebrate everyone's unbirthday!

Throughout Term 2, students put their imagination to the test, crafting quirky, curious, and wonderfully weird ceramic cups and saucers inspired by Disney’s Alice in Wonderland.

To top it off, they put their handmade masterpieces to use while enjoying a tea party full of sweet treats.

Year 12 Biology meets CSI!

Our Year 12 scientists stepped into the world of forensic biology at Flinders University. From mastering pipetting techniques to running gel electrophoresis, they were hands-on with lab skills to uncover clues behind a mystery sample. Using electropherogram data, students pieced together the story of a simulated crime scene, like true forensic investigators in action. It was an inspiring day offering a glimpse into cutting-edge research and real-world science at Flinders University.

We were thrilled to welcome to Kildare, proud Barkinji woman, Caitlyn Davies-Plummer, as our Artist in Residence for 2025.

Through expressive mark-making, abstraction, and mixed media, Caitlyn’s storytelling - deeply rooted in culture, identity, and connection to Country, resonated strongly with our students during Workshop One, sparking creativity and reflection. We are excited to see what unfolds in the workshops to come.

This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week, a powerful celebration of First Nations cultures, histories, and futures. The 2025 theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy, celebrates the role of young people as cultural leaders and advocates for justice and equity. Through our 2025 Artist in Residence program, our studio was filled with bold visual expressions of the strength, vision, and legacy of our strong young women.

It was a flavour-packed Term 2 as our Cafe Culture and Food and Hospitality students embraced exciting experiences..

Year 7 students focused on sustainability with Use-It-Up recipes, while Year 8 students explored dough-making and healthy menu design through a pizza incursion. Year 9 students took on a pasta challenge and catered a spice-inspired staff lunch. Showcasing their flair in a vibrant food truck event, the Year 10 students ran a successful café day. Our Year 11 students elevated their skills through full-service café experiences, a tasting excursion, and meal kit development.

These exciting opportunities have seen students discover industry skills, showcase barista talents, and learn entrepreneurial skills all whilst making connections within the Kildare and wider community.

We are proud to share that Kildare College has been nationally recognised as a leading Australian workplace, receiving the title of 5-Star Employer of Choice for 2025 by The Educator.

Alongside only 35 other schools across Australia, this recognition celebrates an unwavering commitment to cultivating an exceptional organisational culture, prioritising staff wellbeing, and fostering outstanding leadership practices. It reflects the College’s commitment to creating an inclusive, values-driven environment where staff are supported, empowered, and motivated to make a meaningful difference in the lives of each other and the students.

At Kildare College, staff experience a dynamic, values-based workplace where collaboration and lifelong learning are strongly encouraged. Initiatives such as regular Staff Breakfasts, our annual Retreat and Wellbeing Day, provide opportunities to connect beyond the classroom. Additionally, Professional Learning, Appraisals, and Wonder Hours promote a vibrant and engaged staff community that drives the College’s reputation for educational excellence.

As part of the evaluation process, Kildare College staff were invited to complete an anonymous survey assessing their workplace experience. The results were overwhelmingly positive with a satisfaction rating of 84.5%, and an average score of 4.2 out of 5, placing Kildare as a 5-Star Employer of Choice.

The College remains dedicated to building a workplace where every staff member can flourish, ensuring that the future of education is as bright for staff, as it is for students. Read more here: https://premium.theeducatoronline.com/au-te-5-star-employers-of-choice-2025-kildare-college/p/1
