Temporary Graduate Sc 485 visa changes 1 July 2024

The Department has updated their 'Changes to the Temporary Graduate visa program – proposed 1 July 2024' webpage to add a section titled 'Eligibility for the Temporary Graduate visa prior to the proposed 1 July 2024 changes'.

The new section states that applicants must have completed their qualification and lodged their Temporary Graduate visa application before 1 July 2024 to be assessed under the current sc 485 visa requirements and that any applications lodged on or after 1 July 2024 will be assessed under the new Sc 485 visa requirements.
The Department has clarified that applicants must meet the Australian study requirement and provide evidence from their education provider of the date of course completion, prior to visa decision.

The ‘completion’ date means the date on which the academic requirements for the award of the degree, diploma or trade qualification were met and does not include the formal conferral of the degree, such as through graduation (Migration Regulations 1994, regulation 1.15F(2)).

*** Another Week Another Labor Agreement ***

Congratulations to our corporate client on securing the Labor Agreement approval for the 482/494 visa to sponsor your incredible team of temporary visa-holding employees! 🌐✨ This is a significant achievement that reflects your commitment to fostering a diverse and skilled workforce.

For those who may be wondering, a Labor Agreement is a mutually beneficial arrangement between an employer and the Australian Government. It allows businesses to sponsor skilled workers when there is a genuine need that cannot be met through the standard skilled migration program. The 482 visa (Temporary Skill Shortage) and 494 visa (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional) are key components, facilitating the entry of skilled workers into Australia.

DAMA is designed to address specific labor shortages in designated regions by providing a pathway for employers to sponsor overseas workers for positions that may not be covered under the standard skilled migration programs.

🤔 What's DAMA?
DAMA is a specialized migration program designed to address unique labor market challenges in specific regions of Australia. It opens doors for skilled workers and businesses, fostering growth and development in designated areas.

💼 How does it benefit businesses?
For businesses, DAMA means unlocking the potential to sponsor skilled workers, even for positions not covered by traditional migration programs. This paves the way for a diverse and talented workforce, contributing to business success and community development.

🌐 Pathway to PR:
One of the fantastic perks of DAMA is that it can be a stepping stone towards Permanent Residency (PR). Skilled workers sponsored through DAMA can have a pathway to settle in Australia permanently, creating stability for them and their families.

✨ Exemptions Galore:
DAMA comes with unique exemptions, making it a flexible and tailored solution for both businesses and skilled workers. From English language requirements to age limits, DAMA recognizes the distinct needs of different regions and industries.

🇦🇺 National Reach:
Did you know there are 12 DAMA programs nationwide? That's right – from the bustling cities to the serene regional areas, DAMA is making waves across Australia.

We are proud to have played a part in assisting business clients throughout this process. 🤝🌐 Aussizz Group is here to guide and support businesses in navigating the intricate landscape of Australian migration. Our expert team ensures a smooth and efficient visa application process, making it easier for businesses to focus on what they do best – thriving and growing.

Migration Strategy – At a Glance / 8 Key Changes which is proposed with changes by Federal Government

1. Targeting temporary skilled migration to address skills needs and promote worker mobility

A new Skills in Demand visa with three targeted pathways, and visa settings that encourage migrant worker mobility in the labour market.

New commitments include:
• A new Specialist Skills Pathway to make it easier for Australia to attract highly skilled workers, for example in the technology or
green energy industries

• A Core Skills Pathway to meet targeted workforce needs, with a simpler, regularly updated occupation list for the skills
Australia needs

• New visa settings that give migrant workers more mobility in the labour market to help tackle worker exploitation and drive
productivity

• Streamlined labour market testing and visa processing.

==========================================
2. Reshaping permanent skilled migration to drive long-term prosperity

A commitment to explore a reformed points test for permanent skilled migration, and a new Talent and Innovation visa for migrants who can drive growth in sectors of national importance.
==========================================

3. Strengthening the integrity and quality
of international education

A package of integrity measures to lift the standards for international students and education providers, while ensuring graduates help meet skills shortages and do not become ‘permanently temporary’.

New commitments include:
• Higher English language requirements for international students and graduates
• More scrutiny of high-risk student visa applications and a $19m investment into the Home Affairs student visa integrity unit
• Restrictions on onshore visa hopping that undermines system integrity and drives ‘permanent temporariness’
• Strengthened and simplified Temporary Graduate visa settings
• Measures to support international students and graduates to realise their potential.

==========================================

4. Tackling worker exploitation and the misuse of the visa system
A comprehensive suite of legislation, powers, penalties and policies to combat worker exploitation and restore integrity to the
migration system.

New commitments include:
• A new public register of employer sponsors to improve integrity and support migrant worker mobility.

==========================================

5. Planning migration to get the right skills in the right places
A longer-term, evidence-based approach to planning migration that closely collaborates with states and territories and ensures
population planning is based on the best available population data and forecasts.

New commitments include:
• A new approach to planning permanent migration over the long-term and greater state and territory collaboration on
net overseas migration forecasts.

==========================================

6. Tailoring regional visas and the Working Holiday Maker Program to support regional Australia and its workers

A new direction to ensure visas for regional Australia are prioritised first, and a commitment to evaluating regional migration settings and the Working Holiday Maker program to ensure migration supports development objectives in regional Australia and does not contribute to worker exploitation.

New commitments include:
• A new direction to ensure regional visas receive the highest priority visa processing.

==========================================

7. Deepening our people-to-people ties in the Indo-Pacific

A new approach to developing people-to-people links with our region, including through a direct pathway to citizenship for New Zealanders and increased mobility with Pacific Island and
Southeast Asian countries.

==========================================

8. Simplifying the migration system to improve the experience for migrants and employers

A system-wide simplification agenda that will streamline visa settings, reduce visa classes and make the system easier to use.
New commitments include:
• The removal of 20+ unnecessary and duplicative visas to simplify the visa system.

Breaking and Not great news to many Visa Holders,

Australia will have a smaller overall migration intake under the landmark strategy the Albanese government will launch on Monday, with an emphasis on new pathways for permanent settlers and highly skilled workers, as well as tougher rules to eject the temporary visa holders the nation does not need to stay.
