🙌 Pier One Hotel Sydney Review 🙌

- brilliant conference facilities

- outstanding dining (forgot food shots but we are rolling home - our included meals with conference were exquisite!!)

- location on the water (Water Room made a beautiful backdrop for the conference sessions!)

- close proximity to cruise terminal (10 min walk)

- walking and running path on its doorstep right around to Circular Quay along the waterfront

- almost under the Sydney Harbor Bridge

- St Ives ferry right outside

- dog friendly 🐾

- spacious room but twin rooms need a bit more bed distance 🤣 (sofa bed option activated!!)

- huge bathtub, smaller shower cubicle

Overall we give this stay a 4 out of 5

Ah Sydney!!

Two visits in one year - how lucky!!

The one thing I love most about Sydney?

It’s walkability!!!

Secondly, the water!!

Ocean swimming here possible year round (for the brave!!) but with huge swell the next few days it might just need to be a pool swim….

💬 The Australian Government is exploring how new options for Aviation Disability Standards could improve air travel and make the whole journey more accessible for people with disability.

📋 People with disability can do a survey on how new standards could make air travel better.

- 📝 Booking and planning
- 🧳 Experiences at the airport
- 🛫 Traveling on the aircraft

👥 People with disability, families, carers and support workers are encouraged to look at the proposed options and share their views.

How Fiji’s new Tourism Services Tax may impact you

The Fijian Government has just announced a new tax on travel and tourism in Fiji. It came with almost no warning, and it may affect your trip. Here's what we know so far.

What's happening

Fiji has introduced a new Tourism Services Tax of 5% from September 1, 2026.

Travel businesses in Australia were not consulted, and we are still working through exactly how it applies.

The Fijian Government requires the collection of this tax on almost all travel and related services regardless of whether you have already paid for your booking in full or not.

What this means for you

Already booked and paid? The Fijian Government has advised this tax could apply to your booking, even though you booked and paid before the tax was ever announced.

Following Industry consultation by our peak industry body, the Australian Travel Industry Association, we have been advised:

Bookings BEFORE 1 September 2026: Once you’re in Fiji, you may be asked by a supplier to pay additional money for the Tourism Services Tax (similar to a resort tax in the USA).

This fee will not be more than 5% of the booking price. Please know that this is not money you have already paid to us.

Bookings AFTER 1 September 2026: Any tax that applies to your trip will be include d in your price when you book and pay, so you should not be asked for additional money to cover this tax.

What we do know

We are working through exactly how this affects your booking, and we won't leave
you to sort it out alone.

We'll update you as soon as we know more.
