Winter is here. But we never stop exploring!

Gloomier days aren't all that common in Adelaide, but when they are it sets the scene for a different feel. Like the city is keeping secrets waiting to be found out.

Our Adelaide and Port Adelaide walking tours are a chance to see the city differently.

History Festival 2026: done and dusted.

We've had our biggest EVER run for South Australia's History Festival, featuring four different tours across the last couple of weeks. These are just some of our amazing guests.

We introduced you to the unique stories of Rundle Mall, and had you take in Hutt Street in the only way possible with a cafe stop. Then, we meandered through the East End differently and (re)acquainted you with our local foods.

It's been a great time sharing Adelaide's stories in fun, quirky and immersive ways - thank you for walking with us, as always.

When we think of Adelaide's dining scene we often compare the East End and West End areas in the city centre. And then Chinatown gets thrown in. But looking further out, suburban Adelaide is serving up amazing dining experiences that need to be appreciated!

Adelaide's west and north-west are true gems when it comes to fabulous eateries. Two restaurants we recently visited were simply sensational, both with exceptional food and service:

1. Tunki.adl
This West Lakes restaurant does a brilliant Feed Me menu, showcasing a mix of their niche Nikkei cuisine (blending Japanese and Peruvian flavours). From seafood to spatchcock, this was just everything. Cocktails were also a hit.

2. COLAC Port Adl
Re-opened mid-2024 after an extended closure, the pub has been reimagined into a trendy eatery with honestly some of the best-cooked steak you'll find anywhere. Beautifully crafted pasta and sides to match, it was incredible.

Our love for exploring Adelaide's food scene translates to providing you honest, relevant recommendations. On tours with us, we give you the know-how to enjoy the rest of your time in Adelaide - which can easily expand outside the CBD boundary!

Say an official hello to JANE!

Jane joined our team earlier this year and currently specialises in tours of the . She's got so many talents, having previously worked as a health professional and being fluent in French!

So what makes Jane tick when it comes to all things Adelaide?

👉🏻 Fave landmark in Adelaide and why?
- The biggest drawcard for me is the Adelaide Central Market. The food, the tastes, the energy, the history... it's a place to meet as well as shop, a part of my life since childhood. I can't wait to see the new development!

👉🏻 Fave fun fact?
- The University of Adelaide was the first university in Australia, in 1881, and the second in the world, to accept women on an equal basis to men. Even before women got the vote, and long before Oxford and Cambridge in the 1920s.

👉🏻 Fave Adelaide food and why?
- I was a loyal fan of the legendary Parlamento restaurant opposite the railway station, for Raffs' seafood marinara. But I have found tasty Spencer Gulf prawns in many great city restaurants, most recently at Cumbia.

👉🏻 Fave Adelaide festival and why?
- Womadelaide. There's something very magic about its Botanic Park setting on a mild autumn night, stars, light breeze blowing, hanging with friends, picnicking, or savouring world cuisine, music of the planet drifting across.

👉🏻 Why is Adelaide the best?
- It has everything: festivals, food, live music, thriving arts scene, stone buildings, markets, sports, the Popeye, beautiful parks and gardens - and the beach, hills, and wineries are all a close distance.

Katina had a great time chatting to Laura from The Post about all things Rundle Mall, as part of an article about South Australia's History Festival offerings in 2026!

The article discusses our new 50 Years of Rundle Mall walking tour, and hints at some of the fun things we'll cover about the area that is essentially Adelaide's central hub.

The tour is on twice in May ahead of the Mall's official 50th anniversary celebrations in September!

DATES:
Sat 16 May, 11am
Fri 22 May, 2pm
Tickets are on sale now!

Links to the article and History Festival tours are in the comments. (We have four different offerings across the month!)

On our bespoke experiences, we love to slow things down when allowing visitors to Adelaide like a local. This often includes a coffee stop, where there's time for discussion about how Adelaideans live life day to day.

On this occasion with the lovely Tara and Mario from the US, we took them to BTS Cafe.

Known for its daily change-up of flavours, we went on a Friday when the Carrie cupcake is stocked. The everyday Mr Big was also on offer, and the pair couldn't go past getting one of each. We think Mario captured the essence of Mr Big in the second photo!

Travel can be so much fun in not only discovering the place you're in, but how pop culture from close to home (in the case for Tara and Mario) can show up in other parts of the world in fun ways when you least expect it! It was one highlight of many on their unique experience, and they were gracious enough to leave us a glowing review.

*Close-up cupcake photos of Carrie and Mr Big are from the BTS website.

The man in the first photo is Peter Blackeby.

Adelaideans know the name Blackeby thanks to the local chain of confectionery stores and presence in main areas like James Place and the Central Market (though that original store is now referred to as The Old Lolly Shop).

We talk about the Blackeby family on our Adelaide Central Market Tour (who no longer own/operate the stores), so it was our guide Andrea's absolute delight to have Peter show up on a tour! He actually joined The F Factor, our food tour on other local sweet delights. Now living in the Riverland region three hours away, he requested a quick visit to the James Place location still bearing his family's name.

How could Andrea not? Peter was happy to take photos and share stories of his family history with the group - his grandfather William was the first to make lollies. Still a sweet tooth, he enjoyed a different take on the sweeter side of Adelaide with us!

To wander through Adelaide's streets is to embrace the mix of urban and natural beauty. Captivating greenery amongst the heritage.

Here, the sprawling roots and branches of this Moreton Bay fig tree grow and evolve as does the mind, forever learning and searching for answers.

Situated in the Adelaide University campus on North Terrace, it's a wondrous force of nature.

Take the time to marvel at our city's design with a local guide, bringing to life Adelaide's stories from past to present.
