The Adelaide University Geological Society (AUGS) is a student-run society. Welcome to the Adelaide University Geological Society (AUGS) Facebook.

We are a student run society associated with the Adelaide University Union (AUU). AUGS is run by 3rd year undergraduate students majoring in Geology, Geophysics and/or Environmental Science. We are dedicated to all geology students and faculty at the University of Adelaide. The aims of the Society are to encourage a social community between students and staff throughout all years, supply financial

assistance to students for academic field trips requiring individual financial input and to facilitate through a variety of events, networking with professionals from the resources industry where graduating students will potentially look to gain future employment. AUGS events include many functions throughout the year such as BBQs, quiz nights, pub crawls, sponsors nights and a formal dinner. Afterwards, and at all these events, student attendees have the opportunity to socialise and mingle with potential employers and academics in a relaxed environment drawing on their experience and knowledge. The moment you’ve all been waiting for, pubcrawl one is on its way this friday!!! 🍻🦖 It’s been a long semester… so slap on your shirt and get ready to delete one million beers with us! make the most of all the great deals at these venues on our journey through the east end. deals start from 5pm at the unibar.

If you haven’t copped some swag yet, swing by the Mawson and grab one off our committee who will be set up in front of the Sprigg room over the coming days until sold out… sale times in our story highlight ‘PUBCRAWL 2025’. Your shirt is your ticket to this event, and you must be wearing one to access the deals!

Get keen and tell all your mates, everyone is welcome (we also want to see some profs get silly)!!! It’s sure to be one for the ages… 🍻🦖

Our first BBQ of the year was a great success! We had many new members sign up and a fantastic turnout. A big thanks to ASEG for sponsoring the barbecue, and dynamics G-Ex for sponsoring the raffle. Finally, thanks to everyone that attended, and we hope to see you at the next AUGS event!

The time has come for the 2024 committee to say farewell!! 😭 Before we leave we would love to say thank you to everyone who has supported us this year! We are so grateful to have had such an incredible turnout at all of our events. Nothing would be possible without all of our members and our sponsors, Dynamics G-Ex, Beach Energy, Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists and NExUS.

Hopefully all of you have had just as much fun as we have this year, it’s been an absolute pleasure working for AUGS. Thank you for buying an insane amount of pub crawl shirts, supporting our new “Side Quest Hour” and wearing all things serpentine to our ball! 💚🐍🍻

To the committee that survived the great pubcrawl date change of 2024, we wish you all the best! Apart from that silly little mishap please share your favourite thing with us from this year, hopefully they’re good!!!

WANT TO BE APART OF AUGS 2025

If you’d love to be apart of the AUGS committee next year now is your chance to apply!!! Voting will be taking place at our AGM on Friday Week 12, just before the BBQ kicks off.

For those interested in applying there are five roles that need to be filled!! You can apply via the google form in our linktree or if you have any questions feel free to reach out online or in person.

Applications are open to students who will be third years next year. All general AUGS members are invited to join us at the AGM, to help vote in the new committee.

As the uni year starts to wrap up, we’d love to invite you to join us in celebrating 2024 with AUGS at our final BBQ!!

Our last event of the year (😭😭) will be taking place on the Friday of Week 12, from 6-10pm on the Mawson Lawns. Entry fee is $5 for all and we’ll be providing food and drinks on the night. 🌭🍻

This BBQ is a halloween special, 👻🎃, dress up is optional but for those who do want to dress up I can’t wait to see what you come as!!! PS. we might even some lollies for the trick or treaters. Thank you for such a good year, we hope to see all of you join us one more time before the new committee takes over!!! ❤️

Once again, with the support of our loyal fans AUGS has been able to host another incredible event, our very own ball, the Serpentine Soirée 🐍💚🖤. Like always we want to thank all of you for showing up, partying hard and getting around our serpentine theme. We loved seeing you all in beautiful shades of green and black, with many temu snake accessories!!!

Friday night was a real team effort from the committee and I’d like to give a special shoutout to our vice president, Alastair Bowie, for organising such a perfect night. Thank you to all who gave speeches (or raps shoutout G & D!! 🤑) and entered into the raffle, AUGS is very grateful for all the support. ☺️

We’d like to thank our beautiful hosts , who took such good care of us and helped make everything come to life! Our photographer .media for working tirelessly to capture every moment and and their beautiful photobooth that was popular the whole night!

Thank you all once again for coming, it was so lovely to see all of you and with more than 100 shirts sold this was our most successful pub crawl all year!! 😊

ITS HERE… tomorrow night is our final pubcrawl of the year and we hope you’re all just as excited as we are!! We know it’s been a long week, so get those STOP PLATE TECTONICS shirts on and get ready for a beverage or two (or three…). We’ve already sold more than 100 shirts so far so expect it to be A BIG ONE! 💚🥂🪨

There are some great deals on offer for all of you pub crawler’s including drinks, food and free entry for those with shirts!!!

The night will start at 5pm at the Unibar, AUGS will be there to welcome you so come say hi! Our last 10 shirts will be available to purchase and for those of you who need to pick shirts up we’ll have those ready for you as well.

As for side quest hour a list of quests will be released via our story and on paper at 8.50pm. From there you have an hour to complete as many quests as possible but remember to play responsibly and look out for your mates! PHOTO EVIDENCE is required if you want to win!! 📸 The individual with the most quests completed + photos to prove it will have their shirt refunded! Photos must be sent via Instagram or Facebook before midday Saturday and the winner will be announced shortly. 🥇

We can’t wait to see you all rock up in your shirts and compete in side quest hour! May the odds be ever in your favour….

Our Story

Welcome to the Adelaide University Geological Society (AUGS). We are a student society associated with the Adelaide University Union. Our society aims to foster a social community among students and staff who are studying or otherwise interested in geology and affiliated topics (eg. petroleum, mining engineering, palaeontology), and to provide extra-curricular opportunities for students to explore further and network with professionals. Throughout the school year we run many events, such as BBQs, field trips, pub crawls, and the annual Geology Ball, among others. If you have an interest on any of these we would recommend you follow this page, as all upcoming activities will be announced here.
