Adelaide University Geological Society (AUGS) The Adelaide University Geological Society (AUGS) is a student-run society for people who also love rocks!

If you love social events and career opportunities we’ve got you covered! Welcome to the Adelaide University Geological Society (AUGS) Facebook. We are a student run society associated with the Adelaide University Union (AUU). AUGS is run by 3rd year undergraduate students majoring in Geology, Geophysics and/or Environmental Science. We are dedicated to all geology students and faculty at the Univ

ersity of Adelaide. The aims of the Society are to encourage a social community between students and staff throughout all years, supply financial assistance to students for academic field trips requiring individual financial input and to facilitate through a variety of events, networking with professionals from the resources industry where graduating students will potentially look to gain future employment. AUGS events include many functions throughout the year such as BBQs, quiz nights, pub crawls, sponsors nights and a formal dinner. Afterwards, and at all these events, student attendees have the opportunity to socialise and mingle with potential employers and academics in a relaxed environment drawing on their experience and knowledge. Overall the Adelaide University Geological Society adds an enjoyable social element to studies in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Sign up to The Dirt: https://tinyurl.com/ydvuxjzt

Come along this Thursday 14th May to the SA Geopub!

Joseph Ogierman from Heavy Rare Earths Ltd (HRE) will be presenting what is sure to be an informative and entertaining talk on Radium Hill.

Radium Hill - Australia’s first uranium mine. Over a century of transitioning from radium mining to uranium mining and to a potential rebirth as a critical mineral generator?

The talk will give a historical overview from discovery to current exploration. This small mine has had a disproportionate association with famous Australian and global scientists and significant local and global politics. A history cloaked in secrecy for many years.

All are welcome!!
