This week marks the end of an era as the Laura Golden North Factory closes its doors.

For 106 years and many generations, the factory has been part of our townโ€™s story, creating memories, jobs and local pride along the way.

We would like to sincerely thank the Golden North team for their support of Little Blessings Brewing over the last 2 year and wish all staff and families the very best for the future.

A significant chapter closes for Laura this week ๐Ÿ’™

SPEED WEEK 2026

I know we have people waiting for an announcement on the fees for Speed Week 2026, I appreciate your patience while we have worked these out. We have done our very best to keep fees as low as possible while working in some token contribution towards our track maintenance to better enable us to maintain this track for everyone's continued use. I understand that this is a big change from previous years and I am more than happy to discuss any issues you may have. You can contact me at [email protected] - please refrain from taking your queries or concerns up with any other staff/volunteers other than myself (Kate). This includes contacting our owners, please don't waste your time or theirs, you will simply be re-directed back to me.

Saltbush Campground - This is the camp immediately beside the lake, just near the Mt Ive Lake Shed where the bar and catering is traditionally located during the event. Please refer to the map below if you are unsure. Fees for this camp will be a flat rate $220pp regardless of length of stay (so you can choose to stay 2 nights or the full race week for the same fee). This includes your camping and access. It will be payable in cash only at the locked gate or you may go to the main homestead on your way in if you wish to pay by card. This camp is open from Thursday the 5th March until Sunday the 15th March and the locked gate will be manned for payment at hrs to be specified a little closer to the date. If you need to arrive outside these hours you can contact us prior to make special arrangements. In the event of an emergency there will be staff/volunteers on site with the ability to unlock the gate, we do not wish for this to become a safety concern for any party, however should you wake our staff/volunteers for non-emergency access there will be penalties. You MUST be self-contained for this camp, that means we require you to have your own toilet. Please note that we reserve the right to request proof of such upon entry and a shovel does not count.

Unpowered Camping at the Homestead Campground - This is priced at $30pp/night and includes your lake track access. There is no minimum stay, you can choose as many or as few nights as you wish. This campground gives you access to hot showers, bins, toilets and a camp kitchen with bbq, toaster, kettle and microwave.

Powered Camping at the Homestead Campground - This is priced at $70 per night and allows upto two people on the site (single power connection) as well as including access. Additional individuals sharing the same site are charged at $30 per night. There is a 5 night minimum stay for powered site bookings.

Accommodation bookings at the Homestead Complex - Individuals with these bookings will be contacted prior to the event. An additional $15pp/night will be added to the standard accommodation charge to cover track wear and tear. I will be in touch to confirm your booking, your guest numbers, nights, any linen hire required etc and there will be an invoice made ready for payment on arrival. Please note that all details will need to be confirmed in advance for this event and payment will be strictly on arrival for all parties.

Day access - if you wish to access our track for the day but not stay at our campground this will incur the standard $45 per vehicle fee. This will be payable in cash at the locked gate or via card by stopping at the main homestead on your way.

Things to note:
-The above fees apply between March 4th and March 19th 2026.
-We apologise to those who have been quoted prior years fees when enquiring, please feel free to cancel or alter your booking as required by contacting [email protected]
-The access fees being charged above are for the Mt Ive Station lake access track and do not get you onto the salt. Any fees associated with access onto the salt come under the DLRA, please direct enquiries accordingly.
- Mt Ive is pet friendly, we welcome pets at the main homestead and if you need to leave them contained within your camp (or contact us to arrange the use of one of our secure working dog pens) you are welcome to do so. HOWEVER, Lake Gairdner is national park and as such we ask that no pets are taken to the Saltbush camp (no pets will be allowed past the locked gate). This is simply to ensure we maintain good relationships with national parks which helps us continue to provide access for everyone in the future. We also note that this is a more heavily baited part of the station and it is in the best interest of pet owners concerned with their pets safety to assist us in ensuring no pets end up in this area.
-There are no campfires allowed during the event, this is a safety issue and we appreciate your assistance on this matter.
- A toilet is a composting or chemical toilet, a shovel will not suffice
-Access is lake access only, the embankment and the organ pipes tracks will be closed for the duration of the event and all vehicles will need to remain strictly on the highlighted road marked on the below map. If you require special permission to deviate from this track (if you wish to arrange access to the sidetracks or need to arrange access to the Mulleroo Campground sometimes referred to as the old DLRA camp) then you will need to contact me at [email protected] to make arrangements prior to the event.
-Mt Ive reserves the right to issue an immediate ban on any guest caught doing the wrong thing on Mt Ive Station. If you are caught doing something you shouldn't, you will simply be asked to remove yourself from the property, we do not need the drama.

Once again I appreciate your patience as we implement this new system. I understand that change can be hard however it is necessary to allow us to continue to provide camping and access for the Speed Week Event. I appreciate this is quite the lengthy information dump - any and all enquiries/requests for clarification will be welcomed by myself, Kate, at [email protected] :)

EDIT: We have just been notified there may be some additional dates that apply to competitors only. I will work with the DLRA to sort a solution to this and release the information as soon as we have it. We only had the race dates to work with and so that is what I based this off, hang in there if you are a race participant requiring further clarification, I will get it as soon as possible :)

EDIT 2: The DLRA committee has been in contact and requested the date range on the Salt Bush campground be extended. We are happy to accommodate and as such you will note I have edited the above content to reflect that the Salt Bush Campground will now be open from Thursday the 5th until Sunday the 15th and a flat rate fee of $220pp will apply. The rest of the details remain the same. I apologise for the mix up, hopefully this will be more suitable for everyone
