Yoga and foot baths, rain and sunshine, frosty mornings and orchid spotting, walks and valley views, wineries and cozy fireside chats.

Yep, that just about sums up our Clare Weekender for Women last weekend. So grateful 🙏

With this lovely bunch of women, we explored parts of the Wine and Wilderness Trail through Spring Gully Conservation Park on our first day, spotting green hood orchids and red stringybark gums, which are endemic to the area. Our next day’s walk had us weaving between paddocks, old wendouree vines and the native gum corridors up Dunns Range. Then, on our last day, it was the Riesling Trail from Clare to Sevenhill. Following the old train line, we arrived at Sevenhill, fascinated by the history of the valley's first and oldest vines. Piared with our accommodation at beautiful Bungaree Station, it was a weekend filled with friendship, conversation and connection. Our hearts returned home on Sunday evening, overflowing after 3 days of awesome walking, wellbeing activities, and yummy food!

Thanks to all who joined us and to our Big Heart Leaders, Talia and Greta.

Let's catch up on last weekend's Training Walks 🥾

Although these routes were designed for our adventurers soon to undertake the Larapinta Trail end-to-end, did you know you can join our training walks even if you are not doing the particular walk, but just want to do some training?

Last weekend saw Mark leading 4 walkers around Morialta on Saturday, followed by Kim and 5 others enjoying the winter sunshine during 13km around Brownhill Creek and Waite Reserve. Things were pretty wet and slippery for Mark and crew on Saturday... with plenty of water flowing, the creek crossings required some serious focus, but the rain certainly didn't deter the wildlife, nor did it put off our walkers!

Our next round of Training Walks is the first weekend in July with Belair on Saturday and Sturt Gorge on Sunday. Who's keen to get some steps in?

Fungi lovers… get ready!

How many types can you count at the end of our clip? They flick past quickly, so you’ll have to count fast 😉

Our Grampians Weekender For Women was last weekend, and OH MY GOODNESS, we spotted SO MUCH FUNGI 🍄🍄‍🟫 So many colours, shapes and sizes. So many varieties… so so good!

Our ladies had a marvellous weekend. Four fantastic days, starting with a lunch stop at Pink Lake, then a first hike to Beehive Falls. Rain came on Saturday, and our group hiked the Pinnacle, battling on through the wet, windy and cold conditions. What a bunch of resilient champions! A great opportunity to test out wet-weather gear and discover some jackets were not up to scratch! Hot showers followed in the afternoon, plus a visit to Brambuk Cultural Centre and a local winery 🍷

Then, with the weather kinder on Sunday, it was a thumbs-up for the 15km Mount Rosea hike and an excellent opportunity to witness the fire recovery in this area, with detailed info offered by Talia on native species and how they respond to bushfires. Early Monday morning brought a sunrise hike up Chautauqua Peak before settling in for the bus ride back across the border.

Thanks to all who joined us and to everyone for sharing so many beautiful pics… those stunning views, waterfalls, and definitely the fungi... 😍

We’re thinking of resting this Weekender in 2027, but our Grampians Peaks Trail Adventure departs in May and is now open for bookings. This departure is for all genders and features a slightly different itinerary in which we walk the Grampians Peaks Trail from Chatauqua Peak to the highest point in the park, Mount William Peak. This is a 5-day itinerary that includes cultural experiences, spectacular mountain ranges, and awe-inspiring peaks. Check it out here:
