Lynette and I want to wish all our friends, followers and suppliers a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. Thank you for your support in 2025.
2026 will be a great year for Albany marking 200 years since the first settlement of Western Australia.
On Christmas Day 1826 the Brig Amity arrived in King George Sound to claim WA for the crown and too keep the dastardly French at bay. Numerous events will be held during the year so keep an eye out for events that may interest you.

Spencer Suites has rooms available next July for the Albany International Folk and Shanty Festival. The festival will be held on 10th, 11th and 12 of July 2026. Following on from last year’s successful Scottish theme, 2026 will have an Irish theme.

It’s time to plan your trip to Albany, no worries about tariffs, no poor A$ exchange rates and no hot humid weather. May has the Taste of Great Southern festival for foodies with lots of great local produce and wines that are better and more affordable than Margs! June has the wonderful Around the Houses car race around central Albany showing of cars from the 1930’s to recent classics such as GT Falcons and Monaro’s.
June also heralds the beginning of Whale Watching season as these magnificent creatures arrive from Antarctica on the way north. Local tour operators can get you up close.
Recent rain has seen the region turn green and farmers are busy seeding for hopefully a bumper grain season. In a few months many paddocks will turn golden yellow as the Canola flowers.

Looking for whales? Today whales were spotted off the whaling station and we observed 3 Pygmy Blues and one frisky breaching whale off Cheynes Beach. The Blues were heading west toward Albany.

What a great day for tourists visiting Amazing Albany, 24 degrees in the middle of May. Our farmers do need some rain asap but we continue to enjoy great autumn weather.

We sadly report the loss of our beloved George. Many of our customers and friends have met George in the carpark at Spencer Suites Albany. George loved the 4 pm ball game and enjoyed many pats from everyone. Regular visits to Haz Beans and walks on the waterfront were another favourite. At 15 he was a grand old man in the dog world but his health declined over the last few months. We will miss him.

There is more than one way to visit Amazing Albany. These intrepid sailors travelled on the sail training ship Leeuwin 2 and created a great feeling of history to the Albany waterfront.
