Delighted to take a few of the Victorian members of the
‘Australian Touring RV Club’ through our historical cemetery and share some most loved stories.
It was the perfect day for it.
The club have been in the area since last Wednesday taking in the beauty and historic significance of our little corner of the universe and have visited the Tarraville Church, The Port Albert Maritime Museum, Agnes Falls, The Long Jetty, The Toora Wind Farm, Woodside Beach/The Woody Pub, and The Albo Pub.
A presentation about the ‘Yarram Murals Art Trail’ followed by a walk at their own leisure is on the agenda for tomorrow.
We certainly have kept them busy!

Thanks ABC Gippsland for this lovely write up on our unique historical cemetery.

Our ANZAC Day presentation will take place tomorrow, Saturday April 25th at 4pm.
This is very different to what we usually do, and if successful I will continue with it as an annual event.
If you would like to come along and learn about the families, the boys and men that went off to war and hear some of their own words recorded in letters and telegrams, meet at the front gate of the cemetery ready for a 4pm start.
Hopefully the weather is favourable…

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
The Easter Tarra Festival in Yarram is so fun!
I absolutely loved spending 100 minutes with these fabulous folk! They came from all over the world to wander our special cemetery…..London, Malaysia, The Gold Coast, The Yarra Ranges and Melbourne suburbia….
Sometimes I get asked questions that I do have a definitive answer for so it sets off a ‘great investigation’…today was one of those days!
We have 2 signs in the cemetery….‘Irregular Graves’ and ‘Unrecorded Area’…
What are they and who is buried in those ‘Irregular Graves’?
The ‘Unrecorded Area’ is a mystery. How would anyone know many burials happened with out being recorded? Who is in there? Why are there no records? Can answers be found at all or will this one remain unanswered forever!
I seriously wish we could do ground X-rays and DNA sampling on any remains to try and identify these people.
Thanks for coming…you all really made my day!

I’m looking for stories to share for our April 25th Alberton Cemetery Walking Tour.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has ancestors buried at the Alberton Cemetery who served in the armed forces.
I already have the stories of the Appleyard boys and the Langtip boys.
I would be grateful for any others.
This will be a different tour to our usual pioneer stories.
You can email me your story to - [email protected]
OR….you can come along and tell your ancestors story as a guest presenter at their grave. Call the number below and let me know if you would like to do so.

Call me on 0403819183 to book a spot.

It’s one of ‘those’ days!
We are being held to ransom by the weather Gods! ⛈️⚡️💨
With predictions of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms this afternoon it may be necessary for a short notice cancellation.
At this stage we will proceed and I will make the call at 3pm.
For those that have booked a spot I will call you personally if it’s necessary to cancel.
If it’s not teeming buckets at 4:30pm I will be at the cemetery and happily proceed with whoever is brave enough to take the risk!
I will have umbrellas ☔️

What a lovely day for a cemetery walk.
Today’s guests were from the Leongatha Community House.
Lots of stories told and lots of history shared.
Boy…was it great to have a mini bus so we didn’t have the 700 mtr walk back! It was a bit warm and we all a bit hungry!
I sure hope they enjoyed their lunch at Port Albert Fish & Chip Co.
Thanks so much for coming.
