Wayoutback is an adventure seeker specialist offering small group tours in Australia's Northern Territory. We have forged an enviable reputation from the stream of happy customers recommending us to those wanting to experience 'The Land Down Unde

r'. The name “WAYOUTBACK” typifies our belief that the only way to experience the authentic Australian Outback is to get far away from the crowds, bounce your way along bush tracks in a 4WD, swim in remote waterholes, camp in the middle of nowhere, cook over an open camp fire and drift off to sleep under the stars by the fire – a truly Outback Australian tradition!

Hi all,

My name is Don Wait and I am the founder and Managing Director of Wayoutback Australian Safaris.

In February 2021, I posted a message to customers on this page about the impacts of COVID-19 on the business of Wayoutback Australian Safaris. Unfortunately, 2021 continued to present difficulties for the tourism industry in Australia with new COVID-19 variants and ongoing domestic and international border closures.

Despite our best efforts to adapt to these conditions, without being able to run tours and generate income it has not been possible to meet the everyday business expenses that exist regardless of whether we are able to operate or not. We simply have not been able to ride out the storm that is COVID-19.

It is with great sadness that I inform you that on 16 February 2022 Wayoutback Australian Safaris Pty Ltd was placed into voluntary administration. Quentin Olde and Liam Healey of Ankura have been appointed as voluntary administrators of the company.

Throughout the voluntary administration period we will work with Ankura to find the best solutions for creditors and we are hopeful that a viable restructure plan will emerge in the next few weeks.

Wayoutback Australian Safaris has operated successfully for over 23 years and provided many memorable experiences for both domestic and international travellers. I hope to be able to continue to share my passion for outback travel in the Northern Territory in the future.

Thank you for your patience and understanding through what has been an incredibly difficult 2 years and particularly challenging last few weeks.

Please contact Jeremy Edward of Ankura with any questions that you have about the voluntary administration: [email protected]

Regards,

Don Wait

The magnificent White-bellied Sea Eagle or Marrawuddi as it is known in the Gundjeihmi language of the Mirrar, Kakadus wetland people, is always a beautiful sight to behold as they patrol the billabongs for prey. You are almost certain to see these guys and many more incredible sights when you do the Yellow Waters cruise on our Top End 3 and 5 day tours.
Hopefully just like this eagle you can spread your wings cause we’d love to see you up here soon. Share this post with anyone who you think might be in need of some r and r at the moment 😉.
