The Northern Territory will introduce strict border controls from 4pm Tuesday 24th March. Anyone arriving from interstate or overseas will have to quarantine for 14 days with an exception for those providing goods and essential services during the coronavirus pandemic. This includes NT residents.
For our company this means that we will operate tours on Monday 23rd March and Tuesday 24th March until this situation changes.

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁: Coronavirus cases have remained stable at four in Central Australia, with no new cases reported since 6 April. There are 28 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Territory. A total of 15 people have recovered. Latest information for Central Australia here: ab.co/3ejiyGK
𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹: Three people all from Tennant Creek have been issued with infringement notices overnight for failing to observe COVID-19 restrictions. Police say a 46-year-old female hosted a social gathering with over ten people in attendance, while a 63-year-old man was fined for having 19 people at his home. The third person, a 38-year-old woman was also fined for hosting a gathering of thirty people at her house despite being cautioned previously for a similar breach. All three people were issued with an infringement notice of $1,099.
𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹: Nine infringement notices have been issued across the Territory for failing to follow the Chief Health Officer’s directions - locally a man from the suburb of Araluen allegedly breached quarantine by leaving his home to register his car at the MVR, there were also a number of breaches for alleged mass gatherings in Tennant Creek. 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 : A Darwin woman in her 30s has tested positive for coronavirus after returning from North America.The NT Government says the woman had been in self-quarantine after returning home on Qantas flight QF840 from Sydney to Darwin on Saturday, March 28. Contact tracing is being undertaken for this flight.The woman is now under the care of Royal Darwin Hospital.All 28 cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Territory are related to international or interstate travel, with no cases of community transmission. 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹: Four new COVID-19 cases have been detected in the NT, including the first person-to-person transmission in the Territory.A woman in her 20s was in self-quarantine and is a close family contact of another Territorian already diagnosed with COVID-19 who had returned from overseas.A Darwin man in his 40s had been in self-quarantine since feeling unwell after returning home from Africa. Another man in his 50s became unwell while in self-quarantine after returning from the United Kingdom. A woman in her 50s travelled to South America and became unwell while in self-quarantine. Under national medical guidelines, contact tracing these flights is not required due to the delay between their return to Darwin and becoming unwell.
All four people are now in the care of Royal Darwin Hospital.
𝗧𝗛𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹: A woman in her 20s who recently returned to Alice Springs from the United Kingdom has tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the number of cases in the NT to 22.The woman had been in self-quarantine since her return, and is now in the Alice Springs Hospital. Under national medical guidelines, contact tracing on her flight is not required due to the delay between her return and becoming unwell. All cases in the NT have been acquired overseas or interstate.
𝗧𝗛𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹: Two women have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the Northern Territory overnight... bringing the NT total to 21.A woman in her 20s tested positive after returning from Bali on flight J-Q-8-2 on Friday the 20th of March.She had been in self quarantine ... and passengers on her flight should also be in self quarantine until tomorrow.Another woman who recently returned to Alice Springs from the Gold Coast has also tested positive.She has been in self-isolation since her return and contact tracing on her flights are not required because of the delay between her travel and symptoms. Both women are now in hospital.
𝗧𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟯𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 :The Northern Territory has recorded 4 new cases of coronavirus today.There have now been 19 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the Northern Territory, including 17 Territorians, all cases were acquired overseas.There has been no cases of community transmission so far in the NT
𝗧𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟯𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 :Another two Territorians who recently returned from overseas have been diagnosed with coronavirus this afternoon.The Darwin residents, aged in their late 20s, had been in self-quarantine since returning to Darwin and are now in Royal Darwin Hospital. The first man flew from Sydney to Darwin on flight VA 1351 on Friday 20 March 2020. The second man travelled on flight QF 838 from Melbourne to Darwin on Wednesday 25 March 2020. NT Public Health will contact travellers on those flights who had been seated close to the men.

𝗧𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟯𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵:Two women in their 40s have tested positive to coronavirus after returning from overseas travel. Both women followed quarantine guidelines. They are now receiving treatment at RDH.
One of the women returned from a cruise in Europe on the MSC Fantasia.
The second woman returned from the Philippines via Sydney on flight QF840 on Friday 27th March. Anyone sitting within two rows will be contacted by the public health unit.
Seventeen COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed in the Northern Territory.
𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟯𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: The Northern Territory Chief Minister, Michael Gunner has announced anyone arriving in the Northern Territory from interstate from midnight this Wednesday will be sent into forced quarantine, not self-isolation. From midnight Friday, the cost will be borne by the traveller, not the NT Government.
𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: Following a meeting of the National Cabinet the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison has announced the following.
▪️𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 - Do not go out unless for essential shopping, medical care, exercise or work/education if this can't be done remotely.
▪️No more than two people to gather in public unless from same family/household.
▪️Public playgrounds,outside gyms and skate parks to close tomorrow. Boot camps reduced to two people.
▪️People 70+ should stay at home and self-isolate, limit contact with others as much as possible. This also applies to people 60+ with chronic illness, and Indigenous Australians 50+ .
▪️Moratorium on evictions for six months if tenants unable to pay rent.

𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: A Darwin man in his 30's who transited through Alice Springs airport on his way to the Top End has tested positive to COVID-19. The traveller returned from South America last Sunday and self-quarantined before becoming unwell. He is now in isolation at the Royal Darwin Hospital under the care of NT Health.The man traveled to the Northern Territory on Sunday 22 March on QF796 from Melbourne to Alice Springs and then from Alice Springs to Darwin on QF 2974. Contact tracing on these flights is underway. There are now 15 cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Territory.. All relate to overseas travel. 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: A Darwin woman in her 50s who recently returned from overseas tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). She was in self-quarantine for a number of days after returning from Pakistan before developing mild symptoms.The woman is being treated in isolation at the Royal Darwin Hospital.The delay between returning home from travelling and becoming unwell means she is not considered to have been infectious on her flights.Under national medical guidelines contact tracing on the flights is not required.

𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: Northern Territory Police have confirmed a remote police officer and his wife, have returned from overseas to the remote Harts Range indigenous community in Central Australia infected with COVID-19.They are among five people who have been confirmed with the virus from the Northern Territory in the last 24 hours.The Police Commissioner Jamie Chalker has said the officer and his wife flew on a domestic flight to Yulara in Central Australia before driving home and then self isolating. Selina Uibo says from Monday the 6th of April, usual classes will be replaced with staff development days, with parents given the option of sending their children to school if they don't have alternative arrangements in place. 𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: A Darwin couple who recently returned from overseas travel have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) The couple, aged in their 70s, followed self-quarantine protocols on their return to Darwin two days ago and went to Royal Darwin Hospital after feeling unwell. They are now in isolation under the care of the NT Health system and contact tracing has begun.
Eight Territorians have now tested positive for COVID-19, including a man being treated in the New South Wales (NSW) health system.
𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: The NT government says a Darwin man has tested positive to Coronavirus while in quarantine in NSW. The man, aged in his 60s, was a passenger on the Ruby Princess cruise ship and had stayed in Sydney after becoming unwell.He is being monitored by NSW health authorities.As he is a resident of the Territory, the man’s diagnosis will be recorded in the NT’s COVID-19 statistics.This brings the official number of NT residents diagnosed with COVID-19 to six. There are no additional cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Territory community.There is also one NSW man in Royal Darwin Hospital, but the government says his case is counted in the NSW statistics.
𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 :The National Cabinet has agreed to broader shutdown measures as the number of coronavirus cases climbs Businesses including beauty, tanning, and nail salons will be forced to close from midnight tonight .Hairdressers will be allowed to stay open but will have to follow social distancing measures. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said real estate auctions, open house inspections, arcades, galleries, museums and play centres are also required to close.Mr Morrison announced the tougher restrictions after an evening conference call with state and territory leaders.The measures are in addition to the closures announced earlier this week,

▪️Pubs, registered and licenced clubs (excluding bottle shops attached to these venues), hotels (excluding accommodation)
▪️Gyms and indoor sporting venues
▪️Cinemas, entertainment venues, casinos, and night clubs
▪️Restaurants and cafes will be restricted to takeaway and/or home delivery
▪️Religious gatherings, places of worship or funerals (in enclosed spaces and other than very small groups and where the 1 person per 4 square metre rule applies)
▪️Isolated remote community hubs are not included in these restrictions.
▪️Other facilities are not impacted, but will be considered under stage 2 restrictions, if necessary.
▪️These measures also apply to outdoor spaces associated with the above venues.
▪️Leaders noted that these enhanced measures build on existing measures to slow the virus and save lives:
▪️No non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people outside or more than 100 people inside.
▪️All non-essential indoor gatherings of less than 100 people must have no more than one person per 4sqm. All Australians should expect their local businesses to be following this rule.
▪️Where possible, keep 1.5 metres between yourself and others
▪️Avoid non essential travel
▪️Restrictions on entering aged care homes to protect older Australians

The govt is widening the criteria for corona virus testing with a new category called “Suspect cases”. Besides people who’ve returned from overseas or had contact with a confirmed case within 14 days, the following people now qualify for a test:
▪️Cruise ship passengers and crew who’ve travelled in the 14 days prior to illness.
▪️ 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: Testing will be expanded to include hospitalised patients with fever and acute respiratory symptoms of an unknown cause, at the discretion of the treating clinician.

Most elective surgeries will be cancelled to allow hospitals to prepare for a major outbreak of coronavirus. From midnight tonight all elective surgery, other than category one and urgent category two cases, will be suspended. It applies to operations in public and private hospitals.The decision was agreed to by the State and Territory leaders in conjunction with the Federal Government.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the cancellations are based on the advice of the expert medical panel. “[It will] allow the preservation of resources including personal protective equipment and allow health services to prepare for their role in the COVID-19 outbreak,” he said. 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: National Cabinet has agreed to extend the deadline for the suspension of semi urgent Category 2 and 3 elective surgeries at private hospitals to 11.59pm on 1 April 2020.

The Northern Territory strict border controls are now in place. - Anyone arriving from interstate or overseas will have to self-isolate for 14 days. Australian Defence Force members will assist with the checkpoints in the NT.- Please note: Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania have also announced border controls.
