🚨 ALERT: Three Thong Thang time change

The Three Thong Thang will now be held at 12:00 midday, Sunday.

Due to an unscheduled cricket final being played on the oval, we have to change the start time of the Thang.

Sorry for the change but it’s beyond our control.

If you are a Multi Day Madness competitor, don’t stress, if you don’t make it back from the Donna Double we will give you a pass for the Thang. If, however, you do cross the line before midday you must complete the Thang.

The rules are the same, you must cross the finish line with all three thongs intact. Winner takes all cash.

Oright everyone, listen up, it's your yearly reminder about joe blakes, wriggly sticks, nope ropes, etc. Snakes.

Trail running happens in the bush. The bush is also the place where snakes happen. Getting bitten by a snake is very rare. But the consequences can be serious. Be alert but not alarmed. More than anything, we are reminding you to carry a snake bandage. For participants in the Donna Double and Lumberjack, a snake bandage is mandatory. For the Redwoods and Sawmill we strongly recommend that you take one.

The image is of one of our trail legends who had a run-in at the top of Donna this week. She had stay in place for two hours once she got the bandage on and even though it was a hot day she was shivering by the time she was extracted. Mandatory gear is no joke. Carry it.

Dash n Splash!

Roll up for the World's only Trail Running Lilo Derby! On the Monday morning of Warby Trail Fest wrap up your fave weekend of the year with the unique combo of trail running and xtreme* lilo.

The deal is you have to run about a k carrying your floatation device, at the turn around you punt into the river, and then paddle your way down to the Start/Finish. The best!

Note there have been years when the MultiDay Madness crown has been decided during the lilo derby, we suggest that you check out the racing sleds bookable from Warburton Adventure Co.

*not that extreme really, suitable for tykes and oldies, but if you're real small you must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone has to have a helmet and shoes to get in the water - safety first. All the rules and the mandatories are on the WTF website https://www.warburtontrailfest.com/

People. Are. Wonderful. We want to give a huge shout out and round of gratitude to a bunch of folk who between three crews and two days put in a mega effort to volunteer and clear a bunch of trails in preparation for next weekend's Warburton Trail Fest.

What legends ... , Dion Christian , Stephanie Ellis, Philip Thomas, Amy Ng, Lachlan Colebatch, Rob Bryant, Ellie Stubbs , Kass Law, Alan Gillies and Ros Rogers, Janet Leman, Joyce Barker... and special thanks to for clearing away the snakes, Sam Maddock from for helping with logistics and rangers and teams from Yarra Ranges and from Powelltown for all their hard work clearing and coordinating for the best trail experience for event runners and the general public .

And to and Bush tracks and Conservation (some@members of which mentioned above) for coordinating some of the Fest works but also trail maintenance across Victoria ! Legends.

Little Joe's Night Terror* (and party)! Running at night is alright. Finishing at the saloon is enough to make any trailites swoon.

Sunday night at WTF we line up at Alpine Hotel Warburton as the sun goes down to huff-n-puff through 4km of darkness to the top of Mt Little Joe. Granted there’s not much to see from the summit as it will be dark, just splashes of moonlight cutting through trees, so just put the afterburners on and lope down to the finish at the pub for tunes, tucker, and a tipple. Rumoured by some to be the best finish line in trail running.

Warby Trail Fest, 3 days of trail running awesomeness between 8-10 March offering long runs, short runs, hills, flats, running fast, cruising, and participating. Night runs, lilo "runs", and a dash-4-cash. Off-trail events, talks, sessions, film, fun, frivolity, and fraternity, all held in one of Oz' true mountain towns, Warburton. Best times!

The Three Thong Thang! A serious conducted with the least amount of seriousness possible. This is a dash for cash on Saturday arvo at the Warby Trail Fest, brought to you by our good mates, and leaders in the battle against chafe, T8. Technically if you win it, then you take home a cash purse, which means you can call yourself a professional.

The rules are simple: you must go around the cones, you must vault over the hurdle, you must have three thongs on your person, and you must cross the line with all three intact. The winner may take all, but in the end all are winners in the Three Thong Thang.

Modesty wear for those so inclined is fine. All Multi-Day Madness competitors must complete the Thang, lest they incur a time penalty.

The Thang is a favourite of our maestro MCs behind the mics, the golden tonsils of the golden trail series, Runner Chats.

Donna Double + Salomon Running Golden Trail Series

The Donna Double 22km with 1100m of vert - it's a mountain goat’s delight. Starting in the valley floor on the banks of the Yarra, clocking serious vert up to tag the summit of Mt Donna Buang, before banging back down to the river again. Punchy, steep, fast, and furious!

The Salomon Golden Trail National Series brings the bling and the brightness to trail running and offers the elites a chance to compete globally at the highest level. The top Male and Female of the Grand Finale will win a “golden ticket” to participate at the Golden Trail World Series 2025. The Bigness is HUGE!

The best bit though is that anybody can pin on a bib and participate! This is your chance to throw down with some of the best in the biz and add a little of your own glow to the gold. There are two start times for the Donna Double, a slow wave and a fast wave, so seed yourself accordingly when you sign up.

Huge thanks to Salomon, who came on board at the Fest's inception. They shared our vision of creating a long weekend of community, to run on trails and celebrate our collective love of singletrack and the mountain lifestyle. Huge respect.

Or if your legs are built for blasting and your lungs primed for sucking in the big ones, you can go fast & furious.

Do it on Saturday, do it on Sunday, hell do it on both days and then you can do it two ways.

So Warburton Trail Fest'ers, which camp are we in, Poles, No Poles?

Obvs sticks are just nature's poles.
Of course, if you're doing the River Rapids Rush you probably have a different opinion than if you are a Donna Doubler or Lumberjackero.
Bonus points for anyone with a defensible position on poles for the Lilo Derby.
Poles are not allowed in the Three Thong Thang.
