Operating in the beautiful environment of Apollo Bay, located on the Great Ocean Road, one of our most popular activities is kayaking at the seals of the Marengo Marine Seal Sanctuary. Or come and join our surf lessons, running in various places along the Apollo Bay foreshore. We also offer hire of a wide range of surfboards, body boards, one seater kayaks, wetsuits, snorkelling gear and camping n

ecessities.


- For Kayaking: Book 3 to 7 days in advance and be mindful that it is EXTREMELY weather dependant. We will not take people out with high winds and or big seas and often have to cancel at the last minute if the forecast changes or if our staff are not comfortable with the weather / water conditions. Your safety is our priority! Session times are limited and seasonal, and do not run daily. Please call or email for details to avoid disappointment.

Although our conditions deteriorate over the next few months for open ocean kayaking, there will be some days of bliss where we hope to bring you an experience during the whale migration period.
Let us know your whale experience locally in the bay and surrounds … we would love to read them here at ABSK

Heading out on the ocean? It’s time to start watching out for whales! 🐋

Southern right whales and humpback whales are on their way to waters off Victoria, as part of their annual migration.

To help keep whales safe, follow the minimum approach distances:
🚤 Boats: Stay at least 200m away, and jet skis at least 300m
🏄 Surfers: Stay at least 50m away
🚁 Aircraft & drones: Stay at least 500 metres away

This time of year is especially important for endangered southern right whales, as they return to Victorian waters between May and October, to give birth and raise their calves.

If you see anyone getting too close to whales, report it to Crime Stoppers Victoria on 1800 333 000.
