THE WATER HUB 🌊
What started as one small electric picnic boat has grown into a vision for something much bigger.
For the past 4 years (12 years if take into account the other 8 places I’ve tried to build something similar), I’ve been in talks with the City of Belmont about creating a true community waterfront destination, a place where locals and visitors can connect with the Swan River in a safe, sustainable and exciting way.
The Water Hub would bring together 5 local water-based businesses in one shared location, creating a vibrant riverfront experience for families, tourists, fitness lovers and adventure seekers.
⚓ Planned features include:
• A dual-use jetty for both recreational and commercial access
• Electric boat hire
• Paddle craft and water activities
• Training and safety facilities
• Tourism and local business activation
• A welcoming hub for the community to gather on the river
This isn’t just about boats.
It’s about activating underused waterfront space, supporting local tourism, creating jobs, encouraging outdoor lifestyles and giving people more ways to safely experience the Swan River.
Imagine a place where families launch into the water together, visitors discover Perth from the river, and small local operators can grow side by side.
I truly believe this could become one of Perth’s most unique waterfront destinations, but projects like this need community support behind them.
If you’d love to see the Water Hub become reality, please share this post, comment your support, or tag someone who would love this for Perth.
And if there are any ministers, councillors, tourism bodies or potential investors interested in helping bring this vision to life, please DM me for contact details.
