This past weekend we attended Harvest on the Hill at Little Eden , which was part of the Tropical North Queensland Taste the Tropics promotion which is happening right across the region this month.

Good food, beautiful setting, and that laid-back Tablelands vibe we love 💛

Events like this are exactly why we say… get out and explore your own backyard.

✨ Feast of the Beast – Little Eden Yungaburra ✨

Oh wow… what a night!

We headed out to the beautiful village of Yungaburra for Feast of the Beast on Saturday night, hosted by Roberta and the incredible team at Little Eden — and it did not disappoint.

Jimmy from Yungaburra Butchery showcased his grass-fed beef and free-range pork throughout the menu and Matt from Billycart Brewing Co. had a range of beers on offer to try.

This is paddock-to-plate at its finest 🙌
Celebrating local producers, incredible flavours, and the people behind the food we love so much here on the Tablelands.

From the atmosphere to the food (and everything in between), it was one of those events that just reminds you how lucky we are to live where we do ❤️

If you haven’t been before, pop it on your list for next time they host this event — this is a must-do experience!

Oh boy… do I have another hidden gem for you ✨

If you’re in Mareeba and driving past The Big Hat QLD, make sure you pull in — trust me on this one.

You’d be forgiven for thinking this unassuming little building is just somewhere to buy hats… and yes, you can — but step inside and you’ll discover so much more. It’s a beautiful little oasis filled with stunning clothing, thoughtful gifts, lush nursery greens and now, a lovely café tucked right amongst it all.

We kept it simple with pastries this visit (and they were spot on), but the waffle menu looked absolutely divine and is already on our list for next time.

One of those places you stumble across and instantly want to linger a little longer 🌿

✨ Hidden Treasure in Malanda ✨

Tucked away in Malanda is a little gem THE CLOSET HIPPY 🌿

It’s not just beautiful gifts and clothing… there’s also a café inside — and yes, I couldn’t resist trying something a little different.

I ordered a chai made with tiger nut milk 🤎

If you haven’t heard of it before, tiger nut milk isn’t actually made from nuts at all — it comes from small root vegetables (called tiger nuts or chufa). It’s naturally dairy free, slightly sweet, creamy and has a subtle nutty flavour — perfect in a warm, spiced chai 🙌

Even better? The tiger nuts are ethically sourced from a female-led farm in West Africa 🌾 Supporting women in agriculture on a global scale while enjoying something delicious right here on the Tablelands — that’s pretty special.

I love finding places like this — where you can browse, sip, slow down and discover something new all in one stop.

Definitely one to add to your next Malanda wander ✨

We tried the signature burger at BB’s at the Club at the Atherton International Club — juicy, rich and full of flavour.

We also grabbed the patties from the freezer at IGA and made our own burger night at home 🙌🔥

Just a little snippet of our drives and tastings around the Atherton Tablelands in 2025

I’ve been running these pages for a little over three years now, but it was only late in 2025 that I really began sharing my own videos. In 2026, I’m excited to bring you even more stories, reels and posts celebrating all things tourism and food on the Tablelands – where to eat, where to visit, and the amazing local businesses to support. From farmers and cafés to our natural wonders and places to stay, my goal is to promote self-drive adventures right across the region, covering both the Tablelands Regional Council and Mareeba Shire Council areas.

While I do this in my “spare” time, I already have a growing list of places to visit. If you’re in the food or tourism industry and would love me to drop by, please reach out – I’d love to hear from you.

On the Tastes of the Tablelands front, we currently have two events in the planning stages. If you’re someone who would love to see these events come back to life and have a little time to spare, I’d be so grateful for your help – especially with the food market. Please get in touch.
