Set in beautiful gardens, quiet & private, yet walking distance from local restaurants, cafes & the Riesling Trail. The space
The cottage was built in 1859, and is Heritage SA and National Trust listed. It has been through many lives over a hundred and forty years, including tea rooms, library, mechanics institute, sweet shop and a few others. The cottage has been extensively and expensively reno
vated to make it into a luxury holiday home and is designed to provide bliss and luxury for one couple. Upstairs is a magnificent, Victorian antique, nickel and silver Queen size bed. There is a luxurious black leather suite with armchairs and settee. The open fire is wonderful to sit around on cold nights, (iron combustion stove) and there is plenty of things to entertain yourself with - HDLCD TV, DVD, VCR, CD, tapes, a DVD movie library, games, books etc. Within the cottage there are some beautiful pieces of furniture and artwork, much from local artists. Of special interest is an antique Polish love seat made in the 1800's about the same time as the cottage was built. Downstairs you will find a fully equiped gourmand kitchen, the benches are topped with Mintaro slate and the cupboards are Blackwood. There is an under-bench oven, glass cook-top, microwave, capsule coffee machine (coffee pods included), selection of teas, draw dishwasher, the finest European glassware and crockery. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for cooking your own meals and supplied with cooking necessities such as cooking oil, salt, pepper, sugar. From the dining area you look directly out of French glass doors on to the beautiful garden. Directly out of the French doors is a pagoda covered slate patio, with a teak outdoor setting, sun lounges, a market umbrella, a BBQ and some intriguing old farm implements - we are still not sure what they were for. The cottage has a luxurious bathroom, fully tiled, with a beechwood vanity topped with local Mintaro slate. There is a large, deep spa bath in which to luxuriate and the linen of the finest quality cotton is supplied. A complimentary bottle of wine of your selection & other treats are on hand to celebrate your visit to this gem in the Clare Valley.
