Home now!
This is the last instalment of my amazing African adventure.
From Arusha Tanzania, to Zanzibar, then via Dar Es Salaam, Johannesburg and Perth to home.
FlySAA, South African airways were great to travel with, one of 4 airlines on our journey.
I finally see the value of stopovers, and transit hotels are great value in Africa, and so worth it! The transit hotel B & B in Dar Es Salaam was a haven when we thought we felt impending doom, and realised why we had no handles on the outside of our transfer van 😳
Premier Hotel OR Tambo, provided a comfortable retreat at the end of a long day between flights, and The Adnate art Series hotel Perth, gifted us, our first taste of home after departing Africa. Perth, what an easy, cheap and efficient public transport system you have, right from the airport, with helpful staff and city ambassadors checking in on patrons at the airport.
G Adventures, thank you for our Classic Serengeti tour, and our awesome group, lots of laughs, amazing content and nee friends.
Our Johannesburg city tour and guide was fabulous … such a past full of incredible hardship.
So many in Africa still struggle and lead lives tougher than most of us can imagine, but their smiles, laughter, and love for gathering in music and dance are most humbling 😌

The Crater, Ngorongoro crater ….. a natural ampitheatre, with animals as far as the eye can see. Camping on the rim of the crater with zebra wandering thru and feeding on the grass next to our tents. Once again …. Wild animals, not contained by fences. Up to 25000 mammals in the crater alone!
Jackals, more lions, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, warthog (aka pumba) tembo (Swahili for elephant), black rhino, buffalo, gazelle, vultures, eagles, flamingo, crowned cranes, secretary birds (my hero, they seek out the snakes!!!), topi and eland (antelope species), hippos and crocs, primates and baboons, and more cheetah!! Oh and the pic with grass and white birds …. Has a cerval cat in the grass, stalking them!
The Masai village 😌, an amazing and fascinating culture.
Last days on safari, 🥲. I could search for, and watch these animals endlessly … and this is what we see in our amazing guides … their excitement at each new sighting 😍 The best proof, that each new animal find, is as good as the first one you ever saw!!!

The stunning Serengeti ….
Bush camping, lions roar at 3am, giraffe sunset spam from in front of our tents.
Pumba, lions sunning themselves drapped over each other. Mumma lion with such a full belly shes panting. Hippos, crocs, baboons, impala, zebra and wilderbeast.
The africans say God created all animals, then the magnificent wildebeast from the spare parts!!!
So much more still to post 😍

Ps … we depart on Thurs night, via Johannesburg, so our journey home should be quite smooth

I cannot believe the safari time with our amazing G Adventures group is done.
Here is a glimpse of the first few days from Nairobi to Arusha, Lake Manyara National Park and entering the Serengeti!

Amazing Masai people, awesome landscapes ….. and the ANIMALS 😍
These are wild animals, roaming according to their own free will, dwelling in national parks …. No fences, no gates.
Such a privilege to have them cross our path.

What can i say about today ….😍 The giraffe centre in Nairobi and their amazing breeding program to repopulate the endangered Rothschild Giraffe in Kenya. These magnificent beasts sleep in their own private forest by night, cross the road to dine with the guests at giraffe manor for brekky, and spend the day doing this ….. 🦒🦒🦒
