The Shire of Dandaragan has approved plans to build a 300-room workers camp in Badgingarra.

The facility proposed by developer Zephyr Energy would house workers needed to build it's incoming Parron Windfarm, just north of Badgingarra.

The workers camp has been approved for a period of 10 years, before the site must be rehabilitated.

Dandaragan Shire president Tony O'Gorman says there will be a number of benefits to the community.

"Adding 300 rooms into a town that has about 300-person population, doubling the population overnight basically," he said.

"The other benefit is that the company are looking at building a gym not at the facility but at the recreation reserve."

Construction on the camp is expected to begin late this year.
