🚜 WE’RE HIRING – PIPE LAYER / EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

📍 Bairnsdale, East Gippsland (relocation assistance considered for applicants with extensive experience)

We're looking for an experienced operator who wants steady work, job security and a solid crew — not project-to-project hopping.🚜

Blackwood Trenching & Boring is a well-established Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and underground civil contractor working across water, sewer, gas, NBN and electrical infrastructure.

Due to continued workflow, we’re looking for an experienced Pipe Layer / Excavator Operator to join our team in a permanent, full-time role.

This role will suit someone who values steady work, job security, and being part of a tight-knit crew — not project-to-project hopping.

🔧 ABOUT THE ROLE

Excavator operation in live service environments

Pipe and pit installation

Reading BYDA, service plans and construction drawings

Locating and working around underground services

Non-destructive digging

Assisting with HDD operations (experience a bonus, training available)

Pre-starts, safety documentation and general plant care

✅ WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Civil construction excavator experience

Strong pipe laying experience

White Card

Current Australian Driver’s Licence

Excavator VOC / RII

A strong safety mindset and pride in your work

⭐ HIGHLY REGARDED

MR or HR Licence (or willingness to obtain)

Cert III in Civil Construction

Experience working around live assets

HDD experience

Asbestos Awareness / Electrical Spotter

Comfortable using technology on site

🎉Celebrating 50 years of Glen Blackwood 🎉 respected, reliable, and still the hardest worker we know!

At 16 Glen began his working life as an apprentice diesel mechanic, then went on to work in his dad’s family logging business where he developed the disciplined work ethic he is known for today. After growing up around trucks and machinery as a 3rd generation log truck driver his skills eventually lead him into the Horizontal Directional Drilling Industry. Over 20 years later, he leads Blackwood Trenching and Boring with dedication, knowledge, and integrity.

One of the hardest workers you’ll ever meet – an amazing father and husband and all-round great guy ❤️ The same grit and determination that have shaped his career are the foundation of our company today.
