Hi Guys, Sooooooo.... fresh from our successful sea kayaking sojourn to the Whitsundays in 2018, we are offering another "at cost" 6 N / 7D expedition (4 nights camping) for Balnarring crew this year. Hopefully Covid 19 will be on the run by then and the borders will be open. Lets hope.
How it works......
So, its essentially a private group tour so it can be tailored around what you want to do, however we do have a route that works well and covers most of the good stuff that you could possibly do in a week.
Heres a run down on the route and plan but like I said can be tailored to whatever the group's requirements are.
Remember this is a not for profit trip, all costs are split between group members so no one is going to make a cent out of you.
Its for Balnarring crew but if you have freinds that want to come along that are not from Balnarring- thats no biggy
If you want to book the whole thing out for a group of 8-10 friends
thats ok too.
It goes something like this:
Day 1.Fly into Whitsundays Coast Airport (Proserpine Airport then transfer to Airlie Beach) or direct to Hamilton Island.
From either airport we can pick you up or give you directions on how to get to Airlie. From Proserpine Airport - 30 min bus ride $30.
From Hamilton Island- Ferry ride to Shute Harbour approx $60.
Get to Airlie, check into some sweet Airbnb, spend the night getting ready for tomorrow, packing, and if there's time ( and there nearly always is) swing by the strip in Airlie.
Dance, drink , be merry.
AirBNB Airlie Beach
Day 2. - The Beach
After breakfast we go down to a local beach where we meet our fast water taxi and load all our gear before we set off on the 90 min ride out to Whitehaven Beach and the start of the paddling bit! Hold on to your hat!
Arrive Whitehaven Beach, set up camp and lap up this incredible white sand beach - surely one of the best beaches on the globe. Go for a stroll this afternoon either down the beach or thru the bush over to Chance Bay.
Camp. Whitehaven Beach.
Day 3. - Settling In
Still at Whitehaven you will receive a full paddling brief including safety scenarios, paddling techniques and efficient forward paddling (so you still have some petrol in the tank after a days paddle to enjoy your trip!)
We will paddle over to Haselwood Island this afternoon to practice our new skills and have a bit of an explore.
Camp. Whitehaven Beach
Day 4. - Paddling in paradise
Getting serious now as we head off to Cairn Beach. First stop, just an hour into our paddling day is Hille Inlet and the jaw dropping view over the river as it winds its way gently upwards. On to the passage that separates Whitsunday Island and Hook Island where we find camp at Cairn Beach. Camp.
Sleep with a gorgeous sea view in front of you and with your tent nestled into the rainforest behind you. This afternoon you can take the hike up to Whitsunday Peak for outstanding views, snorkel the reef right at your front door or just chill. The choice is yours.
Camp. Cairn Beach, Whitsunday Island
Day 5. - Coral reef and protected coves
After a 12 kilometer paddle to Crayfish Beach, protected by the circling hills of the bay, we can settle into camp. The bay is safe enough for you to self guide your sea kayaks to many of the small beaches that dot the bay, go fishing, snorkelling of just relax.
Camp Crayfish Bay Hook Island
Day 6. Explore / relax
Last day on expedition and last day at beautiful Crayfish Bay. Do whatever floats your boat.
Read, eat, explore. There's plenty to do.
Time to check out as we await our ride back to Airlie Beach (or Hamilton Island). check into our Airbnb accommodation by late afternoon. Dance, drink, be merry.
