Little Piggies Playgroup

Little Piggies Playgroup Little Piggies is a fun, creative, farm playgroup for children 1 to 5 years old. Learn about animals and life on the farm in a friendly, safe environment.

Exciting and educational activities for children aged 1-5 years old set on the rural farmyard setting of Rain, Hayne and Shine Farmyard. Sessions run for 45 minutes and generally cover songs, rhymes, stories, arts and crafts. There is a different focus each week with a Farm theme and we learn about animals, how to care for them and how to feed them. Run by a dedicated teacher with over 20 years of

teaching experience these sessions make the most of the outdoor facilities and farm and native animals available. Bring your gumboots and jackets as we go behind the scenes to see how a real farm runs, or enjoy our specially created indoor playgroup area. Families are invited to stay and explore Rain, Hayne and Shine Farmyard after the playgroup session is finished. Price for session include:
*One Playgroup Session
*Entry to Rain, Hayne and Shine Farmyard
*Entry for an adult when accompanying a child to playgroup

We have a specific undercover playgroup area but we also like to make the most of outdoor areas available to us, weather permitting. We also like to get 'hands on' and some of our activities often require a little mess! As such, old clothes and gumboots are recommended. Our topics are seasonal and subject to late change as we like to make the most of the exciting events that happen on the farm such as baby piglets or lambs being born.

This week we had fun creating beautiful flower gardens using a range of flowers and leaves. We loved cutting them up, smelling them and choosing colours.
What a lovely way to finish term 2!

Our last week of term looks like it’s going to be a doozy weather-wise so make sure you bring your gumboots and jackets!

We have a tub of spare gumboots if you need to borrow some and are happy to accept any old boots to use as spares. (Please no holey ones!)

We will be in the indoor patting pen for the most part so get ready to cuddle up to those cute little babies! See you tomorrow!

This week we were using recycled plastic containers to make mini greenhouses.
We placed paper towel in the base and dampened with water. Then we sprinkled on some seeds and lightly covered with soil.
We put these lid on and placed them on the window sill in the sun.
This week we planted a mixture of rocket, Basil, and mustard seeds. When they get a bit bigger we can replant into pots or harvest for our food.

Lots of kitchen play this week with cash registers, shopping baskets, boxes, scales and lots of produce.

Funniest thing happened tonight. My goat Twosie (the ‘smart’ one) got herself trapped in her new hay holder. Well she wasn’t too upset, lots of food, a dry place to be, lots of attention from mum.
BUT she wouldn’t/couldn’t get out!
Anyway we finally coaxed her out with a bit of food. Check out the small space she fitted into!

Guinea pigs are the best animal to cuddle. They are tiny and love snuggling up. Sometimes they can be shy but if you are lucky you will hear them ‘talking’ to each other with their little squeaks.
Unfortunately they are one of the animals I am allergic to but I hope YOU can have cuddles when you visit playgroup!
