Laughter, teamwork, and a shared love for soccer brought KSHS and Tbeng Primary students together, showing that connection doesn’t always need translation.

KSHS spent a truly special night at Camp Tbeng, nestled in the Cambodian countryside. Their stay was packed with unforgettable activities — from riding on long-handled tractors through the village to gathering around the campfire under the stars.

One of the most meaningful moments came through community service, as students prepared and served noodles for the local schoolchildren, sharing not just food, but friendship and care.

Yesterday was a deeply moving day for students and staff at KSHS as they explored Phnom Penh’s confronting past with visits to Tuol Sleng (S21) and the Killing Fields. These powerful experiences offered students an important insight into Cambodia’s history and the resilience of its people.

Today, the journey continues as the group heads north to Siem Reap — but not without a stop at Skoun, famously known as "Spider Town," where the brave can sample Cambodia’s famous fried tarantulas!

The final days in Vietnam were rich in history and reflection as the group explored two iconic sites: the Cu Chi Tunnels, where students crawled through history and learned about the resilience of the Vietnamese people, and the Reunification Palace, a symbol of the country’s dramatic past and reunification.

Last night, the group landed safely in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and are now ready to dive into a new day of discovery in the capital city. From Vietnam to Cambodia, the adventure continues!

What better way to explore a new city than with a challenge? Students from KSHS hit the streets for the Race Around Saigon — an action-packed, clue-chasing adventure through the heart of the city.

Along the way, they chatted with locals, cracked cultural clues, and navigated their way through bustling markets, historical sites, and hidden corners of this vibrant city. It was more than just a race — it was a hands-on cultural connection and a fantastic way to experience Saigon like a local.

In the afternoon, the group spent reflective time at the War Remnants Museum, deepening their understanding of Vietnam’s past, before wrapping up the day with a meaningful meal at Pho Binh — a small family-run restaurant with a powerful wartime history of its own.

A day full of energy, emotion, and connection.

KSHS has just wrapped up two unforgettable days cruising through the breathtaking limestone karsts of Halong Bay, and what an experience it’s been!

From kayaking through hidden lagoons, to trying their hand at squid fishing, to waking up to a golden sunrise over the bay from the deck of their overnight boat — every moment has been pure magic.

Now it’s time to continue their adventure and head south to Saigon. We can’t wait to see what’s next!

What an unforgettable start!

Over the past two days, students from KSHS have dived headfirst into the vibrant culture of Hanoi. From weaving through the buzzing streets on a local street food tour to exploring the rich history of the capital during a city tour, every moment has been full of flavour, colour, and connection.

A true highlight was the chance to sit down with a Vietnamese war veteran—a powerful and moving conversation that gave students a firsthand glimpse into the resilience and spirit of the Vietnamese people.

A big welcome to KSHS who have just landed into Hanoi. Can't wait to follow your adventures.

Our Story:

Vietnam School Tours was founded by Tram and Brett Macdouall. Together they ensure that each group travelling with Vietnam School Tours receives the “hands-on” attention required to make the experience meaningful and memorable.

Tram’s parents are Vietnamese and arrived in Australia as refugees in 1980 (her brother is comedian Anh Do, author of the best-selling book “The Happiest Refugee”), so she brings an insider’s knowledge to a country that is very close to her heart. Tram's ability to fluently speak, read, and write Vietnamese ensures that all components of each trip are fully understood by all and nothing is left to chance.

Brett was a former teacher and Assistant Principal who has been taking school students on tours to Vietnam and Cambodia for over 15 years. He, like Tram, knows exactly the requirements, the difficulties, and the risks of being responsible for a group of students in a foreign country.

Most importantly, Vietnam School Tours tailors each itinerary to personally suit the requirements of each group. This ensures that each school will fulfil their targeted outcomes while students experience the very best of international travel through an educational lens.
