That is exactly what this route from Torino to Nice delivers. If we’re being honest, this itinerary will test you. Your legs will feel heavy on the 14-kilometre grind up Colle del Lys. And when you hit the final 7 kilometres of unpaved, loose gravel on the Colle delle Finestre, there will be a moment you question why you signed up in the first place.

254 kilometers on a bike sounds intimidating. 🚴 Let’s not sugarcoat it. But when you’re standing on the edge of the East Rift Valley, watching the coast plunge straight into a deep-sea abyss, that initial hesitation completely vanishes. You just feel incredibly alive.

Almost everyone who has ridden this route with us looked at the itinerary on day one and felt a bit nervous. From there, the route slips onto quiet back roads lined with banana palms, leading you right to the pebble shores of Qixingtan Beach. You’ll transition from the dramatic coastline into the lush, green heart of Taiwan’s tectonic trench, 🌿 passing places like the Fanshuliao Gorge with its massive, sheer cliff faces.

The fabled Ooty hairpins: 36 relentless bends over a massive elevation gain, are legendary among cyclists. Tackling this steep, winding climb shoots you straight into the Nilgiri Hills of the UNESCO-listed Western Ghats, forcing you to grind through misty mountain roads lined with tea estates and spice gardens before gravity rewards you with a massive, sweeping downhill descent into the tropical lowlands.
