Detour Adventures has been fantastic and now is the right time to step aside from professional tourism. It’s time… here’s why…

Starting Detour Adventures was a dream. I had a dream to create a professional 4WD tour business in Bathurst, and in doing so, we set a new benchmark for 4WD adventures.

I’ve driven 4WD’s my whole life and Detour Adventures helped me share my love of the bush with Guests.

We created new and interesting adventures that brought people to Bathurst.
We’ve helped grow tourism in Bathurst and we’ve enjoyed nine fantastic years doing so.

Guests have come from all over the world for our adventures and we’ve made friendships with many of our Guests along the way.

But it’s not just the Guests who have been great to us. It’s local tourism operators, the radio and TV stations that have supported us too. Thanks everyone.

It’s also the local Wiradyuri Elders who so kindly embraced me as a friend. Me, the white fella who had an idea to help build Aboriginal Cultural awareness on my 4WD tours. Yindyamarra fellas.

Not many will know, but before Detour Adventures, I worked for more than 25 years in an office. It’s only when I left the cage and shackles of office life to start Detour Adventures did work really become a pleasure, not a chore. I love the outdoors and seeing happy Guests.

We’ve won numerous awards, we’ve appeared on TV shows, celebrities have adventured with us and we’ve been blessed with incredibly kind TripAdvisor reviews. So humbling.

Thanks to my loving and supportive family who gave endless encouragement throughout this adventure.

I feel a huge sense of achievement in choosing to retire now after our busiest year.
It’s time.
