The first industry in the South East of South Australia was a whaling station at Whalers Point, Rivoli Bay North, later renamed Glen Point after George Glen an early pioneer. Jane McCumstie is a local artist whose contemplative works explore light, tone, and atmosphere, inviting viewers into immersive encounters where landscape softens into feeling. Her sculptural female figures carry a quiet strength, adding another dimension to a practice defined by what she calls "the small moments when landscape becomes feeling, when light shifts, edges blur, and something familiar reveals itself as new."

Check out her beautiful arts at Beachport Visitor Information Centre.

Southern Ports Highway reopened to the public

The Southern Ports Highway is now open between the Southend and Robe turn-offs, with over 10 km completed from the Beachport Outlet. Reduced speed limits remain in some areas due to loose gravel, with signage in place. Minor works may continue without affecting access. Works are expected to resume (weather permitting) in late August/September 2026, with completion before Christmas.
