Exploring Corfu, Greece with Destination HQ

Our Explore the Heart of Europe with Kate Ceberano journey brought us into Budapest, and what a way to finish.

The city revealed itself in two halves, Buda's hilltop Castle District with its fairytale turrets, and Pest's grand boulevards, home to the Hungarian Parliament and the moving Shoes on the Danube memorial.

One final night together to celebrate an extraordinary journey, before a relaxed, casual last breakfast. Kate was there too, friendly as ever, easy conversation and last photos all round.

There was a real sense of gratitude in the room. All of us feeling blessed to have shared this experience together.

From here, our guests go their separate ways, some staying on in Budapest, others continuing to further European destinations, and some heading home. A group of our DHQ Travel Community continues on to Athens to join an ocean cruise, more on that adventure to come….

The last week has taken us from Vilshofen to Vienna, cruising the Danube and with a little well needed rain, our itinerary adjusted with ease thanks to the experience of AmaWaterways and the skill of our cruise manager and captain, allowing us to cruise further than expected.

Every evening brought something special, Kate Ceberano performing with Kathleen Halloran , Julian Moss and Gypsy Lee, and the ever-popular Woody keeping the room alive late into the night.

The performances have been up close and personal, a true intimate experience, just as we promised.

The vibe on board has been electric. New friendships formed, and once again, our DHQ travel community has come together beautifully.

Along the way, we explored Passau, journeyed to Linz, Salzburg and Český Krumlov, strolled through Dürnstein, and the experienced the grandeur of Vienna.

Next stop, Budapest!

We have just experienced three wonderful nights in Prague which has set the tone for the journey ahead.

A guided tour introduced our guests to this UNESCO World Heritage city, its architecture spanning centuries of styles. Following the peaceful revolution, the country spent years painstakingly restoring these once-neglected buildings. Today those faded facades shine in brilliant colours, turning Prague into a living open-air museum.

We had time to settle in after long flights from Australia, and our guests enjoyed a beer tasting, a foodie experience, or simply relaxed in the comfort of the Andaz Prague.
