To honour the memory of our friend and colleague Tori Cowburn, who tragically lost her life in 2023 in a bus accident in the Hunter Valley after returning from a wedding, Thiess is offering an annual scholarship in her name. This accident claimed the lives of 10 young people from the local Hunter Valley community.

Applications are now open, and the successful recipient will receive $8,000 per year for up to three years to help cover the costs of completing their degree, along with the opportunity to work at one of our Hunter Valley projects.

The scholarship is open to female students residing in the Hunter Valley who are interested in studying a mining-related discipline at university.

Applications close 4 September.
