โOur family of 5 have recently returned from a 2 week adventure in Botswana and Victoria Falls.
I first contacted Richard Field from African Family Safaris 7 years ago, with a dream to take our young family to Africa. We had a 5 year plan to save up and to wait until our youngest child was old enough to remember the adventure, so Richard gave me a rough estimate of the cost and then we reconnected a few years later when we were ready to start planning for real.
Just as we were beginning to get ready for our adventure, the COVID-19 pandemic was declared and the international borders for Australia were closed. AFS successfully deferred all of our bookings to 2021 and then a further 12 months to 2022, without any fees or penalties being incurred.
So it took a little longer than expected, but it was worth every minute!
I think the key to AFSโ success is that underpinning everything was Richardโs ability to really connect with who we are, what we were interested in and what was important to us. He didnโt try and sell us the most expensive safari at the most luxurious lodges, but took the time to understand what we really wanted from our holiday and made sure our itinerary appealed to all members of our family.
We were blown away โ it was everything we wanted it to be, allowing our family to disconnect from our busy lives, slow down and discover the world and each other in a whole new way. It was truly the trip of a lifetime, and we are so grateful to have experienced such incredible environments and to have been looked after by such experienced and genuinely caring people while in Africa.
Richard, we canโt thank you enough for dreaming up this adventure for us and to Bridget for ensuring we were so well prepared and for never getting tired of answering all my questions! ๐โ
