The time has arrived! The 2026 World Championships campaign is upon us and we are pumped to get into it.

This year we have 6 pilots in our combined Australian and Kiwi team ably supported by 26 crew members.

The team will be doing a couple of warm up events at the Croatian and Slovakian National Championships before hitting Poland and the world Championships in mid September.

The action starts in Croatia tomorrow and we wish all of our pilots and teams well.

Congratulations to the winners of Balloons Over Mildura and to everyone who competed in this spectacular event!

Huge thank you and well done to the organisers, volunteers, officials, pilots, crews, sponsors and local community who brought the event together. Even for those of us following from afar on social media, it looked absolutely spectacular — colourful skies, beautiful flying, and a magnificent celebration of ballooning.

Many BAV members were part of the action, and it was especially exciting to see the Australian Balloon Grand Prix continue its journey through Victoria, with both legs of the series being hosted in our state.

Ballooning in Victoria really is something special — from Benalla to Mildura and all the country in between, we are incredibly fortunate to fly in such beautiful places and welcoming communities.

At the same time, ballooning in Australia is one small, passionate community. No matter where we fly or which state we call home, we all share the same sky, the same friendships, and the same love of this remarkable sport. So we will let the 3 NSW winners have this one!

Congratulations again to everyone involved in Balloons Over Mildura. What a wonderful showcase for ballooning in Australia.

This is a very special prize, spending a morning with a balloon team and seeing how the team prepares for the flight is something you can't buy. Good on you Ben and Zircon Balloon Team - Australia for offering this opportunity!

The story of the blue tarps with the AoF logo needs to be told.

Every competing balloon team received one of these beautiful custom-made tarps as part of their event pack. They were originally made for the Night Glow, where the balloons were planned to be set up on the racing track. The idea was simple: protect the grass from burner heat and make sure we left the venue in good condition.

As it happened, the wind had other ideas and the glow had to be repositioned. That meant the tarps were no longer needed for their original purpose on the night, so they were handed out to the teams as a practical and very generous gift.

A big thank you to the Art of Flight Festival team for making this happen, and a special shout out to Craig Morrison from CRM Motor Trimming, who made the tarps. They are beautifully finished and will no doubt be well used by balloon teams for many years to come.

Craig does excellent work, including basket covers and tonneau covers for trailers, and we’re very lucky to have that kind of craftsmanship supporting ballooning.

Something special is coming to the 15 Mile Creek Valley this King’s Birthday weekend 🎈

Balloonists from around Victoria will be gathering at Brookfield Maze for a relaxed weekend of flying from 6–8 June.

If the weather plays along, the skies above the valley could look absolutely spectacular across the long weekend.
