Recreational & Commercial fishers need to stand together to prevent NSW going down the same path as WA Fisheries management.

Please fill in these 2 submissions otherwise it wont even be worth having a boat or going fishing...

We only have till October 18th before this Draft Plan will be enacted... make sure it is Rescinded.... your opinion matters...

This year is already shaping up to the best Yellow Fin Tuna Season in 1 year....

Last year was the best in 30 years... however lots of YFT have been caught already in the big warm water eddy off the South Coast...

On Monday Lee caught a really nice YFT... & several BFT were caught 65 nM out in the centre of the eddy where the long liners fish.... we like to catch YFT in closer... we stick baited a school on Saturday for donuts & Monday we caught a 55-60 kg YFT which took over 2 hours going round & round in circles... the fish with big sickles fight so much harder than short fin tuna..

It is currently the Full Moon Cycle with Low tide in the morning resulting in the best fishing from 3pm & during the night.. so we are repowering Broadbill with a new engine as we will be back to back with very tasty high quality YFT charters on the dark moon cycle from the end of August till the end of October when the YFT are much more plentiful....

Tuna come in all shapes & sizes...So without weighing a YFT how do we know how big a YFT is?... compaison is the answer....

From next weekend we are fishing hard for YFT.... with a new engine with Caterpillar reliability....

So good... finally Cracked the Code for bigger YFT...

The winter run of tuna are usually bigger fish greater than 60kg.... the Spring run are usually less than 60kg...

The bigger fish are older & wiser.... the Spring fish are juveniles much more naive..

It is the start of the Full Moon cycle with Low Tide in the morning resulting in less chance of catching tuna first thing in the morning as the thermocline rises to the surface with all the food in it during the Full Moon cycle resulting in the tuna being engorged with food by morning... best to fish at night during the Full Moon cycle.....

Time to do scheduled maintenance with the most exciting schedule of Repowering with a fully reconditioned motor with no expense spared... going to be very busy over the next couple of weeks....

Broadbill is an excellent Charter boat for Bermagui very good economical sea boat designed for commercial fishing in most sea conditions... level riding comfortable boat for up to 10 fishers... with a new motor she will be an excellent boat for many years to come... cant wait to drive her with her new motor...

The best months for tuna fishing last year were September & October with the Spring Run... we were back to back with charters while running charters solo.... this year we have a retired long line decky with 41 years experience long lining for tuna, able to handle big fish, process & butcher them like a fish monger... allowing us to catch many more fish....

Not sure how long it will take to replace the motor however we are starting tomorrow... its going to get very busy as tuna season is already better than last year which was the best in 30 years.... hopefully this year will be the best in 1 year... aka better than last year.... bring it on..

Fantastic weekend with some really nice people....

Stick baiting Yellow Fin, dealing with showers & sea sickness then finally struck gold...

Lee the Head Chef from the RSL Batemans Bay was given a thorough work out with a fiesty YFT who took a distinct dislike to the boat & had us spinning in circles for a couple of hours... fantastic fish... it seems the longer the sickles the better they fight.... Congratulations Lee ... Well Done..

Finally some good weather...

From Thursday 13th August through to at least Tuesday 18th August on the Dark Moon Cycle with High Tide in the morning & strong current off shore bringing the Yellow Fin Tuna in closer... cant wait to get into them again...

Friday 14th August Shared or Private Charter,

Tuesday 18th August Shared or Private Charter.

Should be lots of Tuna about after the rough weather.

8 Hour Shared Charters $300/person,

Looking forward to a fantastic 2026 Yellow Fin Season....

Finally the fish are in close.... a few have been caught off the top down off Bunga the last 2 days....

The big low pressure system comes on Sunday.... with rough weather & rain forecast for Sunday & Monday.... from Tuesday the High Tide is at 7am leading up to the New Moon Cycle....

We had a Coolant line leak on us on Wednesday at the Bermi Headland on our way back from a Sea Trial... we found the YFT jumping all over the place out at Bunga however they were moving very fast focused on eating sardines off the top... we were only out for 6 Hours to check some marks...

This weekend it is High Tide in the afternoon on Saturday at 4pm so not great for morning fishing.... the fish are there & the long liners are catching lots of Albies as well up north.... Things are just going to get better from here on in.... last year the best months were from late August, September & till the end of October... most caught on the New Moon Cycle with High Tide in the morning....

Coolant pipe will be replaced tomorrow hopefully.... Sea Trial Saturday then Hard Core for next 2 weeks weather permitting....

The Spring run of Tuna are under 60kg.... the winter run are usually over 60kg....
