A few brave souls catching a last wave as the sunsets over Redbill Beach. Average water temperature in Bicheno in winter is 13 degrees Celsius so make sure you have a good wetsuit … and gloves and booties

Located at the northern end of Redbill Beach is Diamond Island. A small granite island connected to the mainland of Tasmania by a narrow sand spit. The island is home to a penguin colony and wader species including the sooty and pied oystercatcher. You can walk across at low tide and get a unique perspective of Bicheno. When planning your visit, check the tide times and make sure that you leave plenty of time to get back off the island on the same tide.

Governor Island lies just off the Bicheno Coast with the narrow stretch of water known locally as the Gulch providing shelter for fishing boats. It is also where the local boat ramp and main jetty are where locals head to on a weekend to catch some of the fresh seafood Bicheno is renowned for.
