Peace by the pool.

There is something special about swimming in a natural water system.
Especially on those hot days, “Barnes billabong” is a devine place to float looking up at blue skies through tree canopies and watching dragonflies dancing on the water.

This weekend, like most weekends with guests, we are reminded of how truly peaceful and magical this land is.

Barnes’ Billabong is almost complete!
This has been a labour of love for Chris for over a year now.
The thinking and planning, waiting for the creek to stop running, the draining of the pool, the landscaping, the heavy rains filling up the area multiple times before we could get the liner in, the floods which almost washed the liner away…

When you are working with nature, you are subject to the elements and it can be quite a drawn out task. But when the planets align, it is so much more rewarding than to create something from scratch.

This pool is fed by the creek and continues on down the creek to Bowens Gorge. It has a natural filtration as well as one we will implement. It is a fundamental part of glamping to have a body of water to cool off in on those scorching days.
It’s not done yet but it is now swimmable.
