Arrived in Birdsville today after conquering the Simpson Desert 5 days after leaving Uluru. It was a difficult crossing filled with many adventures, laughs and great memories. Have holed up for the night in a little bit of bush luxury at the Birdsville hotel - we were all in desperate need of a hot shower and a bed that we didn’t have to set up for ourselves!! Had a great meal, a few drinks and lots of chat about our adventures. Pop on to the blog to see all the details and photos. Have had a fantastic time over the last 17 days and tomorrow we head for home

Has been a fantastic trip. So many highlights - free camping at Finke River, exploring all the gorges through the West MacDonnell Ranges, riding bikes around the base of Uluru, Kings Canyon rim walk and generally the easy going relaxed camping. We have been amazed at the remoteness and all that there is to see and do in the middle of Australia. There has been very little phone service since Longreach and now we are at Uluru!! Hence the lack of FB posts. To be honest posting on social media has been pretty low on the priority list this trip.

After 5783kms and 9hrs short of a full 3 weeks, our fantastic adventure to Cape York has come to an end. We all have a greater appreciation for just how great (and large) this State of QLD is. We farewelled our fabulous traveling partners Tam, Holger and their girls and headed for home. Our little princesses are all happily tucked up in their own warm beds - the one thing they really did miss.
