Another year done! And what a simply brilliant year it has been, thank you so much to everybody who has shared my amazing adventures!
It is always so hard at this time of year to pick the best photos, I have literally thousands to go through. Here are 50 from my year showing how beautiful this country we call home truly is. I urge anyone reading this to get out and have a look around.
So what did we get up to this year? I started as always in the Victorian High Country, always a fun filled 5 days, taking in all the grandeur that is the Victorian High Country, from Craigs hut to Wonnangatta valley to Dargo through to Tom Groggin all of it gorgeous with another group of wonderful people to share it with.
In late March I headed into the Simpson for the first of my back to back Simpson loop tours, one of my most popular tours, The Simpson loop tour starting and finishing in Birdsville, on the way we crossed the Simpson, had dinner at Mount Dare, stood at the geographical centre of Australia, visited the early explorers street sign, restocked in Alice before heading down the gorgeous Hay River Track again what beautiful people I met and what fun we had. Thank you to you all for joining me we fixed some cars had lots of laughs and took in the atmosphere of remote Australia.
I gave myself a little break after these two crossings and headed to Darwin, caught up with family and generally recharged the batteries for the Canning Stock Route.
The Canning in May, what can you say? What a terrific group to show this iconic track, I thank you one and all for a truly fantastic trip, this year we did not even have too much tyre damage. Although for the first time ever I made it out with both spare tyres destroyed! A few anxious days at the end on this one praying I would not do another tyre! We were lucky enough to have a beautiful bull Camel come right into camp for a mud bath and a drink, what beautiful creatures these guys are. We had many a challenge due to flooding this year but with the help of local knowledge and the permit office I was able to navigate everybody along the whole course of the Canning.
After the fun of the Canning I headed across to Lorella Springs, what a privilege it is to still be allowed to run tours on Lorella. It is without a doubt the jewel of the Gulf, this is a very different tour where we head out each day to explore waterholes, billabongs, thermal pools and serenity. The hosts Rhett and Marie always put on a great feed and love sharing the history of this stunning property.
In August I headed back to the Simpson, another very successful loop trip with another group of beautiful people, thank you one and all for making it a successful trip.
After the Simpson it was time to head to cape York, this one is always a great trip with the offer of lots of accommodation or camping the whole way, we visited old gold mines, remote beaches, dusty tracks, we saw deep water crossings, and of course got the must have photo standing at the northern most tip of Australia.
After the Cape I had a little time off and went exploring, more on that another day!
And then in November I finished my year off with another run through the Victorian High Country, lots of old friends joined me on this one, with new friends also coming along for this iconic run through the High Country. The weather was perfect showcasing the beauty of the Victorian High Country.
So that brings us up to date, I will be back rested and ready to show more beautiful people this country of ours. I will in 2025 be criss crossing this amazing nation of ours, exploring all of Len Beadell’s tracks, traversing the Canning navigating the Simpson and generally having a whale of a time.
My sincerest Thank you to all of you who made 2024 into the special year that was, and I look forward so much to showing those of you already booked in for one of my tours in 2025.
I wish you all a very safe and happy Christmas and New Year period, enjoy your loved ones and precious time spent with them, and I am looking forward to seeing you out there on the tracks in 2025.
